*Beep Beep Beep Beep*

‘’Ugh, go die in a hole you stupid clock”, I muttered as I hid myself from the coming day.

Please refer to me as an alarm-clock hating, lazy ass. But who could blame me; first days of school are always the worst. Don’t get me wrong, I do actually like school except for the waking up in the morning part of it. For one, I wouldn’t say I was popular nor would I say I was invisible. So I guess you could say I was somewhere in between.

“Ava please hurry up, you’re going to be late. Let me remind you also, that this is your first day of junior high’’, I heard my mum shout from the kitchen.

To be honest, I don’t know what’s worst; an alarm-clock or a nagging parent.

I hopped out of bed, stretching my arms and legs in all different directions. I quickly shouted a good morning to my mum, and then made my way to the bathroom. There were two things in my day which I genuinely looked forward to, having a nice soothing shower and sleep. I turned on the taps to my usual settings as I slipped out of my clothes. After being fully undressed I stepped into the shower, allowing the warm water to embrace me. While enjoying my lovely shower, I glanced up to the bathroom clock only to realise that I had spent almost half an hour in there. I quickly turned off the taps and stepped out of the shower; engulfed by the sudden coldness I ran with only a towel to cover me into my room. Shutting the door behind me I searched for some clothes to wear, as the saying goes ’’ less is always more’’. I finally settled with a plain turquoise shirt, which was maybe one size too big. I finished the outfit of with a pair of dark blue, tight denim jeans. I applied a very minimal amount of eyeliner and lip gloss, leaving me satisfied with my look. I flew down the stairs to be greeted by my mother.

“Honey, please don’t take so long in the shower next time. Want some egg and bacon?”

“Sorry mum got to fly, see you later”, I said quickly pecking her on the cheek.

Power walking was definitely not my thing, but if it saved me from after school detention then I’m all in. In the near distance I could just make out the school gates which of course allowed me to finally slower my pace.

I immediately spotted my two best friends; Mia and Drew. They were more than anyone could ask for.

“HEY AVA, HOW WAS YOUR HOLIDAY EVEN THOUGH I SPENT 99% OF IT WITH YOU?”

“HI AVA LONG TIME NOW SEE, I’VE MISSED YOU!”

“BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH”

As they shot me questions, my eyes wandered off to the far side of the school where a boy was sitting alone. Looked pretty much like a typical jock; great, just another idiot to add to the bunch. My guess was that he was a new transfer, but I didn’t think too much of it. Before we all knew it the bell had rung signalling the new year.

“Everyone please be seated, I have some very exciting news today. A new student which has transferred all the way from New York will be joining us. Please welcome Xavier”, Mrs Gallagher announced.

Oh yep, he’s definitely one of those typical jocks who will soon rise to the top of the popularity chart. But I had to admit, he was quite good looking. With his hazel eyes, brown hair and not to mention his built body, he was the type that had girls falling head over heels; but of course not my type. I wasn’t looking for anything, well not just yet.

“HELLO AVA, please pay more attention. I was just wondering if you could help Xavier find his way around school. He’ll also definitely need a friend”.

“Oh sorry Miss, uhmm sure, I wouldn’t mind doing that”, I said with best possible smile.

“Great thank you Ava, I knew I could trust you”.

And there I was sitting next to possibly the hottest guy I’ve seen in my whole seventeen years on this planet.

“Hey I’m Xavier, nice to meet you”, he said with a cocky grin plastered upon his face.

“I’m Ava, nice to meet you too, you have really nice eyes”, I blurted out, oh my gosh I did not just actually say that. I mean talk about embarrassment.

“Haha, erm thank you I guess, but you’re definitely not the first”.

The one thing to really take the piss out of me is cockiness and this jock really had some in him.

First period was over and I walked Xavier to his next class, at least I get a break from his cockiness.
