Tapping on the window can be heard, slowly becoming a pitter-patter. Some people ran to seek shelter, and some held open umbrellas over their heads as the clouds coughed up their water droplets.
Concurrently, a man in his twenties, sitting on his worn-out couch, clutching a clear snapshot frozen in time in his over-enthusiastic hand, gazing at it with sorrow, longing and regret.
"These damn memories...."
"I don't wanna go back anymore."
He could feel his words echoing in his own room. Just by staring at that photograph, a sense of remorse and missed opportunities weighed upon his shoulder. The rain outside continued to ding furiously off the metal roof, resembling a furious hum of a swarm of agitated bees.
He silently sobbed as tears streamed down his face, leaving a glinting trail on his cheek. With puffy eyes, he felt the urge to scan the room, once filled with the scent and presence of a person he used to adore, care for, and love.
His eyes were fixated on one distinct flower, standing still in a white vase on a wooden table. As he gazed at that particular flower, he reminisced about how foolish for loving a person he couldn't even have.
That white-petaled daisy.
He slowly approached the table, and with a burning sensation in his heart, he lashed out and forcefully kicked the vase, sending a cascade of those white petals scattering everywhere. That same flower, which everyone knew was his favourite, ended up becoming the one he had the most profound resentment for.
5 YEARS AGO (THIRD PERSON's POV)
It is currently summer, with longer days and shorter nights. They said that summer is a phase where we "dream high" about our youth and chiselling ourselves into a more mature individual.
Well... not for this one particular guy.
Hwang Y/N.
A high school student in his junior year spends most of his time involved in fights, though he's not a bully or thug himself. Visiting the teacher's office is already part and parcel of his high school life, earning him a reputation for being a hothead.
"Hey! You better do it properly or I'll hit your butt again with my mighty wooden stick!" Mr. Baek yelled.
Y/N didn't utter a word, obeying his teacher's order as he maintained his plank for how long only God knew. The other teachers had already lost count of how many times Mr Baek had reprimanded Y/N for getting into fights.
As for his academics, he's not paying attention to his studies, as he thinks getting a C+ in every subject is sufficient to pass his graduation requirements.
And that's exactly what he did.
Unbeknownst to him, an unknown girl with her radiant blond hair, flowing like golden sunshine saunters in while keeping pace with a teacher. As the student walked past Y/N, still in his plank position, his mischievous grin crept across his face as he bestowed it upon her.
In an instant, his punishment and the pain he felt on his butt became unimportant, as her captivating charm with an aura that demands attention, everything else fades away.
As her hazel orbs locked with Y/N, her face slightly wrinkled up in disgust, and she diverted her attention back to her teacher.
"You don't have to pay attention to that boy over there, dear," Mrs Bae said. "He's just merely a reckless and hothead student," The long blond hair girl could only nod in silence.
