In an alternate reality, quite different but similar to the one you know.
[Whitechapel London, February, 2023]
It was supposed to be a normal night in Whitechapel London, under quiet stars and silent streets. Yet I stood at the centre of the bedroom protecting Annabelle from what seemed to be an unreal creature, with penetrating eyes, pitch black skin and piecing blood stained teeth, it stood before us like a hedious dog, an abomination ready to prey on us, a terrifying sight.
Annabelle was two years younger than I am, Ghost-frightened behind me in her red love Pyjamas, while I faced the demonic creature alone, terrified but trying to be defiant in skillet concert T-shirt, green shorts and mismatched socks, raising a baseball bat in defense, but I wasn't fooling anyone.
This creature I later learnt was called a breacher, a demon that could step into our world without using Limbo or needing a body, and only a few had seen it and lived to tell the tale, guess I was lucky, but, Annabelle.... She wasn't so lucky
Annabelle was the only friend I had in the world, and her family the only one I had ever known. We had been friends for over a two years after I saved her from being bullied by a bunch of rascals who didn't know I could pack a punch but guessed they learnt that the hard way, and after that we had been inseparable ever since.
I had come for a sleep over from the orphanage where I stayed, the caretakers at the orphanage let me to, seeing I had a close bond with someone for the first time in a while. but now holding a bat and confused I didn't know what to make of the frightening being that prowled before us, it's growl deep with a moan like a monster from hell, I wasn't far off. Annabelle started to wimp behind me, I could swear I sensed her pee on herself. The creature had appeared out of the dark in the room and was hungry for us. It took a step forward and I raised the bat shakily
"Back!!, Get back!!" I said raising my voice.
It only took another step forward, ignoring my threats, and of course, why wouldn't it, it was ferocious, I was skin and bones, my bat was not going to save us, nothing could, and then with a horrible growl it pounced, and that was it, all I could remember was a slash across my face with it's claws, my bat breaking and myself slapped to the side as I lost consciousness.
When I came through all I saw was unconscious Annabelle being dragged into a portal by that thing, and then it closed and she was gone. I blacked out again.By the time I came through I was at the hospital, with a doctor and nurses surrounding me. Annabelle's mother was there too, I remember her face in confusion and tears asking if she could talk to me to know where her daughter was, I couldn't give a proper answer, because there was none, when I told the police it had been a monster, they assumed I had been too traumatized to even remember the attacker and referred to the person as a monster, I couldn't even face Annabelle's mother, she was a single parent, the only parent Annabelle had, she had entrusted me with her daughter and I had lost her.

But...
...hope was not lost. Later that week. At the orphanage, I was approached by someone who knew exactly what happened to me and Annabelle. A strange man, a man who said he belonged to an Order, the Order of the Blood Servants.Honestly at first I thought he was some kind of lunatic, but I had seen the monster and knew I had to take the chance, I didn't care what they knew, I just wanted to get Annabelle back. they called themselves the Order of Blood Servants, a secret sect under the Church of Esus that were skilled warriors in both Physical and Spiritual combat. they had knowledge about the deofols and hunted them down with abilities beyond human, and I say that quiet literally. A week later I left the orphanage to join them, I abandoned my life as a normal orphan teenager to find the only one I connected with after the death of my father.
