"No, no, no,no!' i yelled in frustration, tossing my gun to the ground carelessly.

My hands found a place in my hair, tugging at the roots in frustration.

"That little bastard!" i groaned. I turned on my heel after hearing a small chuckle, James, i could almost see the smug look on his face.

"sir, i didn't see you there..."

"having a problem, mel?"

"its melissa, sir."

"i like it when you call me sir, it makes me feel powerful."

I thought my eyes were going to roll out of my head...

"anyway," james started, disrupting my thoughts, "we should be getting back to the station, and don't forget your badge again, officer watford" he teased before dropping his right eye in to wink and stalking off down the dark alley way towards the police cars.

Before joining him, i looked around the damp area, my eyes focusing on the ragged chain fence at the end of the thin walkway. The same chain fence he climbed over...

--------------

My heart felt like it was going to burst through my ribcage, there was sweat dripping down my forehead and my body was heaving with the deep breaths i was taking. I started to turn my sprint in to a jog as i knew i left the policewoman down the alleyway at the chain fence, stupid bitch stopped to get her gun.

I finally came to the corner i was looking for, melvin street. Almost as soon as i arrived, a pastel blue van came to a halt in front of me; the door jerking open and sliding to the right.

"no injuries?' George questioned, it was almost a joke between us.

"nearly." I stated as i hauled myself into the van and slammed the door shut.

I turned to look at George, his mouth slightly agape, confusion spread across his broad features.

"you okay George?"

"erm, yeah, just not used to you nearly being injured, thats all." he replied before turning back to the drivers wheel and restarting the engine.

I faced out the window, only to catch Adams reflection staring at me, with a worried glance deeply set into his forehead.

I gave him a lazy grin to reassure him, he was always full of nerves every time time we do something like this ; out of all of us, Adam always wanted to be here the least. He was the last one of us with a clear conscience.

"Adam, i didn't get shot or anything, so calm down."

Adam rolled his eyes and left out a long sigh.

"which policeman was it this time?" ross called from the passenger seat, interrupting mine and Adams intense staring contest.

"i reckon it was the bald one, it was the bald one wasn't it matty?" George joined in.

"no, it was a new one."

" a new one?" Adam now spoke, curiosity getting the better of him.

"yeah, she was a policewoman, quite fit actually."

"on a scale of 1-10?"

the conversation had now grew on all of us, my words being the focus in the confined space of this van.

"pft, id say maybe an 8, but i didn't see her properly and she was in her uniform.'

"oooh, her uniform."

"you kinky bastard."

"we were all thinking it..."

"no, definitely just you."

-----------------------------------

I climbed into the police car as James put his seatbelt on.

I wasn't in the mood for talking at all, i just wanted to go home and wallow in my self pity without speaking of this incident ever again.

"cheer up mel." James' eyes still trained on the road as he lifted up my chin.

i scoffed and moved my head out of his reach.

"its easy for you to say that, you didn't let a robber go free."

His brow furrowed slightly, as if in deep thought.   "and neither did you, well, not deliberately."

i sighed and returned my attention to the window, gazing at passing signs.

Highland way. Liveland grove. melvin street. oak road.

"here we are, look, don't bea-"

"bye james." i slamed the door and ran up the steps into my apartment block as it was starting to rain and the sky was growing grey and cloudy. i pushed through the main door, past the mailboxes and to the elevator.

"groundfloor" i let out a deep breath that felt like i had been holding all day as i leaned back and let my head rest on the metal doors.

I let my mind cast back to earlier today, the robber captivating my mind. Although i had not seen his face at all, and only managed to get a glimpse of his deep brown strands , i knew he was beautiful, not handsome, not 'hot, he was beautiful. I knew this from the way he carried himself when he ran down the dimly lit alley, he carried himself like he was a god.

"fifth floor" i opened my eyes as the doors started to open again and stepped out in to the narrow hallway. i carried on walking past various doors as my hand was rummaging through my coat pockets, looking for the brass key that opened my apartment.

I finally walked to room 502 and pushed the door open after unlocking it. My eyes were met with the large glass window, taking up one wall. i dropped my bag on the ground and heaved open the balcony door to face the sunset.

"long day?'
