CHAPTER 3
Meet the sister
╘═════════════════╛

NIKOLAI LOOKED AROUND, he was inside an empty house. Noticing the doodles by the staircase, he realized that he was inside his own home. His mom never really got rid of anything like those before shit happened, so he didn't bother too.

It was already dark outside, only to be illuminated by a single flickering streetlight. He looked around the place, he was alone. Of course he was, that was normal. Everything was normal. But why was everything so... hazy? And blue?

A strong gust of wind flew on the curtains by the sink catching his attention. Wasn't the window closed? His face scrunched up in confusion.

But what caught his attention was the figure standing below the flickering street light, a metal object glinting on its hand. A tool? A weapon? Just anything? He didn't know. A small clatter resonated, and an object hit the side of his foot.

With the slightest hesitance, Nikolai bent down to pick it up by the handle. A knife? Staring at the blade in confusion, a Ghostface halloween mask was reflected behind him. Turning around quickly, there was nothing behind him.

So was the figure across the street.

And when he turned back around, he felt the knife from his hand get obstructed by something. Niko stared his hand, wrapped tightly around the kitchen knife.

Slowly, the handle was dripping with red. Blood. Still, Nikolai didn't pull it out. The Hawthorne felt like he was in some sort of a...trance? The sight of blood didn't disturb him, nor does the thought of it was embedded inside a person.

He was curious what would happen if he turned the knife?

Nikolai was snapped out of his own thoughts when a gasp came from the person. His eyes were forced to snap into theirs.

His blood ran cold, the hair in the back of his neck stood, and he felt disgusted with himself.

Tara Carpenter stood there in a hospital gown, blood gushing down her lips, eyes wide open, and a betrayed look on her face.

"N-no..." Nikolai muttered, backing away from the girl. Staring at his bloodied hands and back at her. Repeating the process over and over again.

"It's okay." Tara smiled, pulling out the knife. The hospital gown which was white was now blood soaked red. What he didn't expect was the sickening smile on the Carpenter's face, not before uttering...

"You're meant to do that. It's in your blood."

     "No! Stop it!"

"HEY!" Bright lights entered his vision, bringing a small headache that lasted only a few seconds on the teen. He furrowed his eyebrows as he shot up, looking around where he laid.

The flat screen was there, the small creaking chair, tubes still connected to his arm, he was still in the hospital. That was just a dream. A very bad one.

"You good?" Mindy asked, tapping the Hawthorne on the arm. "You were squirming and saying 'no' all the time."

"I'm good." He replied, wiping away the beads of sweat that formed on his forehead. "Just a nightmare."
