Breathless

You left me out in the cold.
Alone.
Far from home.
Breathless.

And yet you attempt to convince me
That you care,
Left on the cold concrete,
Gasping for air,
Selfishness runs through your veins.

Loneliness entered my lungs,
And betrayal into my soul.

Replacing what was once human
With a gaping wound.

Shortening my peripheral,
Blind sided by your empty words and broken promises.

One eye open,
one eye sealed shut.

Airless,
as the reaper came a knocking.

You left me out in the cold.
Alone.
Far from home.
Breathless.
