How Bad Can He Be?

- Chapter 1 -

I was walking through nothing. A field.. of nothing. I looked down and saw nothing. no trees, no water. good thing I brought mine! oh wait... I drank it all. and the food, I ate the food. I thought. "dammit" I say out loud. I continue walking through nothing, when suddenly I kicked something hard.

"OWWWW" I yell and hold my toes. I look at what I had kicked and dropped my jaw. it was a tree. a real, life, tree. what I came looking for. I completely forgot my toes hurt as I marveled the sight ahead of me. A forest. with trees! and crystal clear water!! I looked up to see yellow birds soaring the sky's. I looked back down and saw little creatures running around. I take a step forward and stop.

"What if it's a trap?" I think out loud. "I mean.. two seconds ago I was walking through nothing now i'm looking at this?!" I turn around and see nothing again.. the vast emptiness.. the void of darkness. I then back around and see light, life, and trees! I start to giggle, then I start laughing. I run forward and roll in the green fluffy grass. I climb a tree and touch its silky, fluffy, fluff. I smile and laugh again.

"no way this is real!" I say, back on the ground.

"oh I assure you pipsqueak, it's real" a voice behind be said, making me jump out of my skin. I whip my head around to see the most perfect boy i've seen in my life. he was tall, his gorgeous brown eyes looking down at me with curiosity. His fluffy black hair was hidden under his tall black hat. His smile was the most beautiful thing i've ever seen. I look at his hands and see he's holding an axe. i scramble back and he frowns and looks down.

"oh! i'm so sorry!" he throws his axe towards his tent, which I somehow didn't see before. He holds out his hand to help me up. When I grab his hand, he pulls me up towards him. we were so close, I could feel his breath on my forehead. I stop breathing and blush as I step away. He brushes his hair out of his eye and chuckles.

"sorry about that" He holds his hand back out. "im Onceler." he says, with the sweetest most Innocent voice ever. I grab his hand and shake it.

"I'm y/n" I smile and admire his eyes.

"do youuu need anything? I saw you came from.. over there" he said pausing and pointing to the nothingness.

"I did." I sigh. "do you have any water? or food?" I ask with embarrassment. "I finished mind the third day.

"THREE DAYS?!" Onceler yells with shock. He starts pacing around anxiously.  "How long were you in there??" he says after he calms down.

"umm.. hard to tell, time passes weirdly in there. i'll sayyy 7 days..?" I say unsure.

"SEVE- seven days?" onceler cut himself off when he saw I was getting scared. "ok.. ok seven days.. that means..." he trails off as he starts counting his fingers.

"ohhh no" he says.

"What???" I ask. "what's wrong?? am I gonna die??"

"this is his forest he'll know what to do" onceler says to himself.

"who??" I question. "who's forest?"

"you'll see" onceler says practically running to his tent. He grabs his axe and walks towards me. I Fall to the ground and stumble back. He raises his axe above his head and I hide my face, bracing myself for impact.

THUNK!!!

I jumped when I heard that sound. I slowly u covered my eyes when I didn't feel any pain. I jump back in shock as I see him chopping a tree down.

"hey um.. onceler?" I hesitantly say. "why on earth are you chopping down a tree right now??"

"be..cause he'll.. show.. up" he says in between large breaths.

"im sorry who?" I question.

He stops chopping tree and helps me up for the second time. He looks at me for a second with a soft expression.

"which way does a tree fall?" he says after moments of silence.

"uhhh down?" I look at him. "what type of question is that?"

he laughs and puts his hand in my shoulder. I look at it, then back at him.

"are you ok?" I say looking at him curiously.

"The way it leans" is all he says. He pokes the tree. The only noise around was a crack as the tree fell. As I watched it go down.. I noticed it fell to the left. Onceler started smiling really big and continued looking up at the sky.

CRACK!!

I screamed and ducked behind onceler as a huge bolt of lightning hit the tree, right next to me. Onceler wraps me in a hug and comforts me as I shake. Huge gusts of wind were blowing, my hair getting whipped around in them. I looked up at the beautiful man holding me in a hug and saw his hat had been stolen by the wind. His brown eyes were watching the stump very intently. I looked away from him and at the stump. I jumped in his arms as I saw a figure moving from I side the smoke. Onceler help me tighter and chuckled. as the smoke cleared, I could make out the figure a little better. It was short. like.. really short. Up to my knees short. It had blue eyes, and a hugeee yellow mustache. and the most shocking part was that it was... orange?? I look up at onceler and he looks down at me smiling. he lets go of me and walks towards the figure.

"nice to see you old friend!" he says, spreading his arms. the figure looks up at him and frowns.

"I thought you promised to never cut down a tree again" it says. Onceler shushes it and gestures to me. The things looks up at him with a 'what about it' look. Onceler bends down and whispered something in its ear.

"Ohhhh" it says. it jumps down from the stump and slowly makes its way over to me. I take some steps backward in fear. I look at onceler with a look of horror and he comes running and wraps me in another hug.

"it's ok y/n" he whispers in my ear. "he's my friend he won't hurt you" He backs away and grabs my hand. I squeeze his hand when the figure finally stops in front of us. He notices onceler holding my hand and smirks.

"we'll talk about that later" he says winking at onceler. I notice onceler blush and squeeze my hand a little tighter. The figure looks back at me and bows.

"Hello! I am the Lorax and I speak for the trees!" He says.

I'm also debating putting a onceler POV in there so comment if you want that 🫢 (lowkey hope you say yes so I can write about how he sees y/n)
