My eyes filled with tears as I stared at the paper in my hands. Well, they didn't really, but they should have. The paper crinkled audibly as my eyes bore into the number 95%. The words Well done! didn't make me feel as good as they should have. I might sound a bit arrogant, but I can't help it. Not when...

"You got lower than me, didn't you?"

I gritted my teeth and ignored the stupid cocky voice coming from over my shoulder. His voice dripped with satisfaction and amusement.

"What gave you that impression?" I slowly turned around and offered a cutting smile, hiding the folded-up disappointment in my hands. Dimples formed in his cheeks as he smirked down at me, flashing me the most charming smile he could muster.

My words were suddenly silenced by his finger. "So vulgar," he chided.

Scowling, I stepped backwards and knocked his hand away––which was a terrible mistake, since that loosened my grip and he snatched out my test and saw it. That despicable number. Normally, I would have gone feral, but I was exasperated at that point. His eyebrows lifted and all I managed to say was: "It's because I wasn't wearing my glasses."
