it was the last track meet of the season and melena was about to do her event. her and her group was doing more basic stretches. she had already did the work out when they first got there.

her family and friends were all in the first row, ready for the last event to end. nobody was nervous, but no one was serene either. she hadn't done a meet in months so no one really knew how it was gonna go, yet they wished for the best.

melena was a hundred percent confident. she wasn't cocky but very calm. even though it's been a while, she felt like she was gonna do good and if she was anxious, the pressure from it being the meet to finish off the season would push her to do her absolute best anyway.

as the group from the last race came to the center and the 3 minute break began. lena tightened her low ponytail with her now curly hair. coach p did a quick pep talk right before 300m hurdles started.

melena and the other racers made went to their starting block. once the starting commands were said, everyone sprinted.

lena and another girl were tied at first. "COME ON, LENA, GETCHO A-BUTT ON!" ddot yelled as he recorded, correcting himself since her dad was right beside him. she pressed the imaginary 'boost' button and she went zooming past the girl. "OH YEA, LELE" ray clapped.

she hurriedly jumped over the hurdles, her form close to perfect. as she went past the forth to last one, she saw a girl fall flat on her face from her peripheral. "GOT DAMN!" rallo and matias laughed, he didn't even say anything about his son cursing since the reason he did was valid.

she made a mental note to ask her if she was good after she was finished winning.

lena felt her self getting tired and started to talk to her self.

you almost there, push through.

chin up.

fix your arms.

take bigger jumps.

you gon win.

fuck everything else.

the girl that was tied with her in the beginning came up next to her again.

she saw the girl start to slow down she she shrugged it off. melena begin to pace herself, knowing she still had it since it was just them two in the front.

"YOU GOT THIS BABYGIRL!" Renee and Matias said together, holding up a poster with her on it.

she took one more deep breath and went full out. she heard the other girl exclaim out of frustration. everyone that was cheering for her got extremely loud as she made it to the finish line first.

notti had asked his mom if he could say the f word while supporting lena long before she even started her race. his mom only said yes since it was for melena.

"THATS MY FUCKIN GIRL! YALL CANT TOUCH HA ON YALL BEST MF DAY!" he yelled as he stopped recording. "ethan, i said one time."

lena jogged until she stopped running completely and put her hands on top of her head, taking deep inhales.
the sun felt like it was burning holes in her skin, she ignored it and waited for everyone else to get to the line so that she could go back to the middle.

coach parks met her halfway as she walking and instantly began talking to her. melena wasn't in the mood to talk yet but she know that she was getting praised so she just kept saying 'thank you' and 'i know' even though everything was going in through one ear and out through the other.

melena was talking to one of the girls from another team that was doing the hurdles with her. it was the girl who lena passed, she had got second place.

her name was shai and she was telling lena how good she was and that it was a good game. "yea, yo ass was a challenge." lena chuckled, untying her shoe to tie it again.

"cmere, lena" she heard coach p call out. "ight, i'a see you." she said, walking away. shai didn't have time to say bye back but she shrugged it off and started talking to someone from her own school.

"yea?" lena asked. "hear me out..." coach paused making lena look at her crazy. "i need one more person for the 4x4... and i think you should be the one to take the spot." melena furrowed her eyebrows and jerk her neck forwards. "coach p..."

"i know, i know, it's a lot but you're the fastest runner on my team and you'll definitely get us a win."

melena shook her head, while looking down. "i do jumps, not sprints and stuff"

"melena..."

she sighed. "what leg?"

"forth" coach p answered and lena pursed her lips.

(a/n: i didn't do 4x4s so idk nuffin ab that, correct me if sumn wrong and i'll fix it)

- during the final 4x4 race

"mama, ain't that lele?" ray tapped his mom making her furrow her eyebrows. "where?" she asked. he pointed at the girl who was jogging for a head start with someone just behind her, giving her the baton.

"yea, that'a her a hundred percent" he nodded. ray and renee told the others she was racing and they watched, recorded, and cheered.

eventually, she finished and won again, coach parks immediately went to lena and told her that she should've done it a long time ago.

after the meet ended, coach p's team got on the bus and went back to the school for their parents to pick them up.

as soon as melena got off the bus, she went straight to the few cars of the people that were there for her. "my love, you did so good." renee hugged her. "thank you, mama" while she said 'thank you' to everyone else, she leaned back on notti. he clasped his hands in front of her and they all started talking.

"and then that girl fell flat on ha face" matias laughed even thinking about it playing in his head again.
everyone went back to their own homes except for notti who went home with lena.

when they entered her room, melena went straight to her drawer for new clothes. she got a pair of sweat shorts and a wife beater. "imma be back" she said before walking to her bathroom.

while she was in the shower, notti sat on her bed and grabbed her controller. he got on 2k with ddot and dd while he waited.

melena got out around 30 minutes later. "ight, bye, mhs, my baby back." he said as he hung up from the group chat and turned off the tv & game.

lena crawled on to her bed and grabbed her ipad off the nightstand. "alexa... pair" she commanded and alexa immediately started playing the playlist it was playing earlier.

she changed the playlist and put it back down. she got under the covers with notti and closed her eyes as soon as she got comfortable.

ethan put his arm around her shoulder and went to sleep after an hour or two.
