Chapitre 1

The sun shone brightly through the curtains, casting a warm glow across Amelia's face as she stirred from her slumber. Today was a momentous day for her. It marked the beginning of a new chapter in her life, as she prepared to step into her everyday job as a book reviewer and critic. As Amelia stumbled out of bed, she couldn't help but laugh at her own clumsiness. Tripping over her own feet seemed to be a morning ritual, a testament to her endearingly klutzy nature. She had always been known among her friends and family as the girl who could turn any simple task into a comical adventure.

With her dark brown hair slightly askew and a determined glint in her eye, Amelia stood in front of the mirror, affirming herself. She had worked tirelessly to hone her skills as a book critic, dedicating countless hours to reading and analyzing literature. Now, she was ready to prove her worth. hoping that her Boss, Mr Johnson would give her a big promotion before christmas...before he leaves. With excitement bubbling within her, she quickly got dressed, slipping into a comfortable yet stylish outfit that reflected her vibrant personality.

With a mug in hand, Amelia poured herself a steaming cup of coffee, savoring the aroma that filled the air. The warm liquid promised to awaken her senses and fuel her for the day's challenges. She took a sip, relishing the rich flavor that danced on her taste buds.

With her caffeine fix in hand, Amelia gathered her belongings and made her way out the door. The city buzzed with life as she hailed a taxi, hopping in with an optimistic smile. The journey to work was a familiar routine, yet each day brought its own surprises.

Little did Amelia know that this particular day held a significant change in store for her. Unbeknownst to her, her beloved old boss had been replaced by someone new. The news would greet her as a surprise, setting the stage for a series of unexpected encounters and revelations.

Amelia pushed open the office door with an air of confidence, expecting to see her former boss, Mr. Johnson, seated behind his imposing oak desk. But instead, her eyes widened as she laid them upon a young man casually leaning against the desk. An arrogant smile tugged at the stranger's lips as he studied her.

"Hello, I'm Louis, the new boss. And you must be Amelia," he declared, his self-assuredness immediately rubbing her the wrong way.

Amelia took a moment to collect herself, sizing up the man who had unexpectedly intruded upon her professional life. She had prepared herself for various scenarios, but she never anticipated that her old boss would be replaced by a man of her own age, radiating with conceit. A mixture of confusion, annoyance, and curiosity swirled within her as she tried to make sense of the situation. What kind of boss would this young upstart be? And how would he fit into her carefully crafted routine?

"I'm surprised Mr. Johnson didn't inform me that he would be replaced as of today. I thought it would be after Christmas..." she said, extremely, extremely confused. But Louis replied,

 "I thought so too... You're our book critic, aren't you? I'm sure we'll get along just fine," 

he said, biting a pen between his teeth, feet resting on Mr. Johnson's wooden desk. Amelia wasn't the favorite of her former boss, but they understood each other perfectly, as if they had been reading the same novels forever, which wouldn't be the case, obviously, with this young Louis, she thought to herself.

Amelia settled into her desk, surrounded by her older, wiser colleagues who had become her confidantes over the years. As she flipped through a stack of manuscripts, her gaze kept drifting towards Louis, who seemed to be making himself at home in the office. It didn't take long for her colleagues to notice her distraction. Sandra, a seasoned book editor with a mischievous twinkle in her eye, leaned in and whispered in a ironic way, "Amelia, darling, I can practically hear your thoughts screaming 'What in the world did we do to deserve this new boss?'"
