I had never liked parties.
As I stood in the crowded living room leaning against the wall, the smell of alcohol, vomit and sweat mingling together in the humid air, I tried to suppress the frown forming on my lips. The only reason I even came to the stupid Christmas Eve party was because my brother, Noah, drug me here. He said I needed to loosen up, I told him I was perfectly fine the way I was, then he told me I was as loose as a screw drilled into a piece of plywood that had four feet of cement covering it. Of course right after that he grabbed me by the arm and basically threw me into his room and began trying to 'make me look sexy' as he put it, all while I complained to no end. I sighed, this was going to be a long night.
"Hey!" someone shouted over the loud music, which blasted out of the three foot high black speakers which made up the sound system. The unknown person was shoved roughly from behind by the gyrating crowd and they fell into me, causing me to waver on my feet, desperately trying to regain my balance as the person clung onto me, doing the same. I looked down to find a girl mostly drunk clinging onto me, her clothes so small and tight she might as well have been wearing nothing as she staggered out of my grip and took a blurry look at me. She blinked and a smile grew on her face, a flirtatious gaze clouding her vision as she stared at me.
"Hey there, hanndsomme," she said seductively, batting her long mascara coated lashes up at me. She was barely my height, maybe only an inch or two shorter while wearing those black high heeled pumps, and she reeked over alcohol.
My nose burned as she leaned in closer, her over-the-top perfume to much for my senses along with the vodka on her breath. She was pretty with long waves of chcolate brown hair and forest green eyes, but her looks stopped at skin deep as I took in her skimpy mini skirt that barely covered her butt and the too-low sparkly black tank-top. This girl was not my type, but I knew who's type she was...
"Whaaat's yoouur namme, cutie?" she asked, getting even closer, her unfocused eyes gazing into mine.
"Nic," I replied, my voice low even though the music was so loud.
"Nicky! Hoooow cuuute! My nammmes Pennnyyy," her voice slurred, and she giggled, covering her mouth with her hand.
"Nice to meet you, Penny," I lied, and glanced around the crowd for my bastard of a brother.
"Wannaa dannccee?" she giggled again, and before I could reply she had drug me out onto the dance floor.
She ground her hips on my front, her back turned to me, and threw her arms into the air. My teenage hormones decided to kick in then from the contact, and I bit my lip in irritation. Man I'm in deep shit, I thought, a low moan emitting from my throat. I swallowed hard and tried to pull away from 'Penny'. Once I had left her on the dance floor I headed for the kitchen only to find the man in question sitting at the table with a group of other guys. Figures. I glared at him as I came up to stand beside them. He looked up and noticed my look, then he dropped his gaze only to look back up at me with a smirk while snickering to himself.
"Looks like someone's having fun," he laughed, and the other guys turned their gazes to seat what he was laughing about. I shifted my weight uncomfortably as their gazes landed on me and I listened to their laugter with a burning sensation seeping up my neck and onto my cheeks.
I glowered at Noah, but that just simply made his hug his sides and laugh harder.
"It isn't funny," I stated coldly.
"Oh, but it is," Noah replied, wiping his eyes. "So, did you just leave the chick hanging or did she turn you on only to leave you hanging?"
I glared harder, imagining lunging over the table at him and wrapping my hands around his neck. But of course, what are brothers for?
"I'm guessing the latter," he chuckled.
"Actually, it was the former, but that's beside the point!" I shook with anger as I slammed my hands down onto the table top.
"Hey, wanna play beer-pong with us?" Noah asked suddenly.
I stormed away and went straight to the counters for something to eat.
After grabbing a handful of chips, I munched on them as I walked back into the living room, only to stop in the doorway as a tall figure stepped in my way.
"Um...could you please move?" I asked, looking up.
I was greeted with a smiling face, big brown eyes staring down at me, and dark brown hair that almost looked black hanging in the dudes eyes. He brushed the hair aside a bit with a hand to peer more closely at me. I noted the glint of silver in his left eyebrow as being a piercing and let my eyes trail down to his lips. My eyes suddenly sprung back up to his eyes once I noticed the smirk gracing his soft pink lips.
That's when my attention was drawn to the shouts coming from the living room.
"Kiss him!"
"C'mon, don't be a wuss!"
"You're both under the mistletoe, you have to kiss!"
I looked up above our heads and low-and-behold, there was the tiny sprig of green leaves with a red ribbon tied around it and some fake berries stuck to the leaves. I swallowed hard and lowered my eyes to the guy in front of me. He still stood there smirking, silently laughing inside as he gazed at my no doubt petrified face. Before I could react though, he had already let his lips descend upon mine and smashed them together. My breath caught in my throat and my eyes widened to the size of baseballs as I stood rod straight, frozen in place. 'Ooh's and 'aww's were emitted from the crowd all around us, a few girls and guys making disgusted sounds here and there, but other then that my thoughts were too preoccupied to notice the fact that Noah was now standing behind me shocked speechless, or the fact that the guy was now staring down at me again with that same smirk on his lips.
I was lost.
I had just lost my first kiss to a dude.
