AN: There is military voice procedure being used in this fic. Basic structure is "hey you, this is me." So if you see, for example: "Weiss, Ruby." that is Ruby calling Weiss letting Weiss know that it is Ruby talking to her. This is based on my own experience in the armed forces.

If it is too much let me know and I'll look at changing it in the future.

Ruby's Rangers

13:31 Zulu

It had taken twenty-three days of space travel and two jumps for them to make it from the Free World League to this inhospitable, uninhabited rock. The Rangers were ready; their 'Mechs had been gone over by both Ruby and Port with his team a dozen times, systems recalibrated, weapons zeroed. They had run drills on their, albeit limited simulators, to shake what little rust they had off.

Not that they needed it, Ruby knew she had the best lance in the whole of the Inner Sphere.

"Commander Rose, Blackgate LZ is green and we are on approach. ETA, three hours twenty-two minutes." Capt. Goodwitch announced from the cockpit.

"Roger that Captain." Ruby grinned as she turned to her lance, who were once more gathered around the Starmap.

Though they had three hours until zero hour, the Rangers were dressed for the drop. Each wore their cooling vests and well, nothing else, save for their boots and underwear.

Well. All of them, except Yang.

Yang didn't even wear that much as she ran her 'Mech incredibly hot. If she wasn't such a talented pilot, she probably would have burned up long before she had even set foot in the Solaris ring.

Guess being a pirate had some advantages.

Their Neuronhelmets were placed in front, each one a custom work of art, as the Rangers waited for their commander to issue her final briefing; as Ruby brought up a topographical map, sent to them by their employer.

"Right onto Operation COOKIES AND CREAM." Ruby said, attempting an air of seriousness, before breaking out into her customary enthusiastic grin.

Weiss groaned. "I still can't believe you chose that name..."

"Hey it's only fair, you agreed to play her in Battletech for the right to choose the name." Yang said, as she leaned back in her chair.

"And lost. Badly." Blake chimed in, not looking up from her near ever present book. "For the dozenth or so time."

"Fair is fair, Weiss-cream." Yang asserted, as she grinned at Weiss's annoyed frown. "You lost, Ruby gets to name the Op. Unleeeeeess you're willing to give it up..."

"Never." Weiss declared adamantly and dramatically, "I refuse to even consider giving up the COs cabin."

She glared imperiously at Yang, before sighing in resignation.

"Operation COOKIES AND CREAM it is."

"Aw, don't worry, I'll let you name the next one." Ruby conceded as she turned back to the map. "But back to Operation COOKIES AND CREAM. As you can see here, our target, the industrial outpost, tagged as code word Cookie, is here. Nestled on this high rise overlooking the valley to its north and east, with mountains to its south and west."

With a quick tap, the complex was highlighted in red, against the green of the land.

"To the north, north east about a klick away is our secondary target, the vehicle depot, tagged code word: Cream."
