5:56 PM, Saturday

Suddenly, the car came to a halt.

I woke up from my trance to see that the car wasn't moving.

"Sophie! Brandon! Dad says we gotta be home by 6!" I exclaimed.

"So? We got like 15 minutes left!" answered Sophie.

Brandon smiled at Sophie.

"Boy, you REALLY don't keep track of time, do you?" said Brandon.

Sophie blushed as she slumped down in her seat.

"So...Why have we stopped?" I asked.

Sophie told me that Brandon and her will check what's wrong, while I will call Dad.

5:58

I brought out my iPhone 4 and called Dad.

"Hi, Dad."

"Hello, Sophie. You should be coming home now."

"Yes, Dad. I know."

"So are you on your way?"

"Well, I was."

"What d'you mean?"

"Brandon was driving.. And.. I don't exactly know what happened, but the car stopped working."

"What?"

"The car's gone bust!"

"Why? Do you know?"

"Dad, I just told you! No!"

"How about I come pick you up? You must be in Brandon's car since he's driving, right?"

"No. Sophie let him drive for some reason."

"Oh god. What shall I do now?"

"Dad... I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I'll be okay with Brandon and Sophie here."

"Really? Okay, honey. Bye!"

"Bye!"

I ended the call and placed my phone on my lap. I leaned forward, trying to see what they were doing, when my phone fell off my lap!

Thankfully, as Sophie opened the door next to me to ask what Dad said, she caught it.

"Laurie! That was about £400! Be careful next time." said Sophie.

I smiled and nodded. Sophie had never been this nice to me. Normally, she would just have let my phone fall.

6:00

I told Sophie what Dad said and asked her what was wrong with the car, "I think the engine's broken, something like that." she answered.

Sophie went back to Brandon and put her hand on his shoulder. I shuddered.

Did she have to date a jerk like him?

I shut the door and turned on the car lights. Darkness was falling, so I lay on the backseat and texted Nick.

'Hey, Nick. It's me, Laurie.'

-L

'Hey.'

-N

'Guess what? We're still in the car.'

-L

'What? Why?'

-N

'The engine is broken, I think.'

-L

'Where about r u?'

-N

'Just down ur road.'

-L

'Y don't u come to my house?'

-N

I looked at the text over and over again. I didn't want to go to his house!

'Sorry. Can't.'

-L

'Y?'

-N

'Bcuz my dad says I hve 2 stay with Sophie nd Brandon.'

-L

Should I have lied? Yes, I didn't want to go to his house, but I could have told the truth!

'Oh k. Srry u couldn't come.'

-N

'Nah, it's okay. Gotta go now bye.'

-L

'Bye'

-N

6:03

By the time I locked my phone, I couldn't see Sophie or Brandon! Where had they gone?

I quickly put my phone into my bag and stepped out the car. I walked to the front to see that they weren't there!

It was pretty dark now, and I'm all alone!

I even tried calling Sophie, but no luck. Her phone was off.

6:07

Wrapping my arms around me to prevent cold air rushing inside me, I walked back to the car.

"Well, well. What have we got here?"

I gasped. It wasn't Sophie or Brandon's voice, because I turned around and saw...
