I stormed out of the room and slammed the front door. I didn't know where I was going, but I had to get out of that house. My parents totally overreacted. I needed to breath and clear my head.
FLASBACK
"Hey,mom? Dad?" I walked down the stairs and entered the living room. My parents looked up from their coffee cups and newspapers. "I need to talk to you.""Sure, Honey. Why don't you sit down," my mom patted the seat beside her. "Actually, mom," I replied. "I think I'm going to stand."
I skipped the small talk and cut to the chase. "I dropped out of some of my college classes." My parents jaws dropped. I hurried to explain my reasons.
"They weren't for me. I don't want to be a teacher. I realize that now. So I'm going to figure out what I want to do for the rest of my life and then continue. But, this time, with all new courses."
Everything went haywire after that. My dad jumped up and yelled at me. "That was not your call, young lady!"
My mom then jumped in. "We didn't push you just so you could end it! It doesn't work that way!"
We then argued about how they didn't control my life now that I was 19. After they ranted saying that "living under their roof meant following thier rules" I jumped up and ran out of the house.
END OF FLASHBACKI have no idea where I am. I had been walking for hours without paying attention to my surroundings. My head hung low and my eyes starred at the sidewalk that passed under my feet. I checked my phone for the time. It was about 9:40. The sun had already set.
About three minutes later my eyes were focused on part of the sidewalk that was glowing blue. Curious to see what was causing the glow, I picked up my head and my eyes scanned the area. I caught a glimpse of a sign that was glowing blue and had the word "Bar" written across it.
I thought to myself, "I could use a drink or two." I stood in the line leading into the bar's front door. I was about five people away from entering when I realized I was under age. "Shoot," I mumbled. I stepped half way out of line when a lady grabbed my arm.
"What's wrong, hun," she asked. Her smoke filled breath filled my nose. "I-I'm under age. I'm only 19." She smiled and waved it off . "Oh, that's nothing! I know the owner personally. I can get you in." "Really? That's great!" I returned her smile.
We had reached the security guard and were about to walk in when the man stopped me. "May I see your license please?" I was worried for a second that the woman had walked on and left me but I saw her fur coat at my side. "Don't worry, Al. She's with me" The security guard rolled his eyes. "What ever you say, Joan," he answered, quite annoyed. But he let us past without a fight.
The blasting music vibrated through my body as I made my way to the bar. I ordered a coke and sat down. After I had finished half my drink, I abandoned it and made my way to the dance floor.
I was randomly dancing and swaying my hips to the music. After a few minutes I sat at a booth and watched other people. One person stood out. He was sitting alone at the bar having a beer. His curly hair and green eyes captivated me. I continued to survey the crowd.
About five minutes later I decided to get another drink. This time I needed alcohol. I ordered a strawberry wine cooler and sat across the bar from the curly haired guy. The dance floor was now behind me.
I sipped my drink and glanced up and watched the guy order another beer. I watched as he slowly sipped his drink. He quickly glanced at me and continued on with his conversation with the male bartender.
I finished my drink and swiveled in my seat towards the dance floor. I noticed a cute boy awkwardly standing around. I gained confidence and strolled over to him. "Hey! You wanna dance?" He seemed startled at first. "I-I'm good. Not trying to be rude but I'm not into... girls." I laughed. "Don't worry! I meant as friends I guess. You seemed lonely." He looked relieved. "Oh. Ok. I'm sorry." He stuck his hand out. "Cameron." I accepted his gesture. "Natalie."
Cameron and I danced uncontrollably and crazily for a good hour. His dancing consisted of bobbing is head and moving his shoulders to the beat. Mine consisted of swaying my hands above my head and hips to the music.
It was about midnight when Cameron said that he needed to leave. We exchanged numbers and hugged goodbye.
I decided to grab another drink before I left. I asked for another wine cooler and sat down at the bar. Half way through my drink, a figure sat down beside me. "Hey." I turned toward the stranger and was surprised to see the curly haired guy. I tried to hide the fact that I was secretly drooling. "Umm. Hey," I questioned rather than stated. "I saw you dancing and just wanted to say you looked hot." My eyes widened. "T-Thanks." He chuckled at my reaction. "Let me buy you another drink."
"But I don't even know you." I was starting to rethink how I felt abut this guy. "That's what I'm here for. To get to know you and you, me." I knew I was going to regret this but I agreed anyways.
