The loud beeping of an alarm finally woke Derek from his deep sleep. Shaking his head lightly, he slapped the snooze button and looked to his co-worker to make sure he too had woken up. When he saw Reid's empty bed and the closed bathroom door he came to an easy conclusion. Grumbling about how long the kid took in the bathroom, he let his friend take his time. He waited five minutes before pounding on the door. "You do realize you aren't the only one here. Open up!" Morgan yelled through wood. The handle turned and the door opened, but Derek didn't see Reid. Looking down, he saw a little boy, about eight years old, dressed in a shirt that was far too big for him. He was also wearing glasses that were not made for a child, he practically had to hold them onto his face.
Morgan shuffled back a step when the kid stepped out. He looked to the far side of the hotel room to assure himself that the door remained locked. Crouching down, Derek said "Hey buddy, how did you get in here? Can you tell me where we can find your parents?" The boy looked up from the floor, and Morgan tripped over his feet he moved backwards so fast. The look the kid shot him was the same one Spencer saved just for Morgan when he asked a stupid question. And there was something about the haunted hazel eyes, they had far too much knowledge in them. Derek's mind jumped to a conclusion that he knew was ridiculous but somehow at the same time seemed to be the only plausible reason for a young child being in his room.
"R-Reid?!" Morgan asked incredulously. The boy rolled his eyes. "Wow, he finally gets it. Let's give a hand to the genius over there." Spencer said sarcastically. The darker skinned man's eyes widened even more at the rare show of annoyance by his best friend.
"How did this happen? How is this even possible?" Derek asked.
"Don't you think if I knew I would have explained it by now!" Reid ran a hand through his hair in an exaggerated gesture. The older agent couldn't tear his yes away from his shrunken friend. "Well, I knew that magic was a concept, something that very few people could actually do, but I never thought I would actually see it in person."
Sorcerers had come out of hiding several decades ago, the lost art of magic being used to heal those in need and help people who couldn't help themselves. However, as with all populations, there were some bad ones out there, and they could cause problems for the average person if they so chose to. It seemed the members of the BAU had come across one such sorcerer.
Spencer walked over to the door that lead into the hallway, bumping into a few objects as he became accustomed to his new height. When Reid put his hand on the doorknob Morgan furrowed his brow. "Hey. Where do you think you're going?" Turning around with a pained look, the youngest agent said, "I'm going to talk to Hotch and figure this out. Either you can come with me or let me go alone." Knowing it would be suspicious if an eight year old kid was seen walking around alone, Derek agreed to join him.
Reid didn't have anything to change into that would fit, so he was forced to keep on the oversized shirt and basketball shorts. They stopped just outside their boss' door and knocked hard three times. When nobody came, Morgan looked down at his watch and saw that is was five thirty. Rossi and Hotch were probably still asleep. He knocked louder, hoping it would be enough to wake up the senior agents. He heard movement and then a thump, like someone had fallen out of bed.

Hotch shuffled closer to the door, still drowsy from being woken up. When he looked through the peephole he saw Morgan standing there. He unlocked the door and opened it only a little so the light wouldn't wake up Rossi. "What do you need Morgan?" Hearing the change in his voice Hotch coughed and rubbed his throat. Morgan's eyes widened and he took step back. "Oh god, not you too." Aaron's brow furrowed. "What do you mean?"
Reaching behind him, Morgan grabbed Reid by the shoulder and pushed him towards their boss. Both of them were stunned. "Hotch?" His eyes raised slightly in surprise, the dark haired man bent down slightly to be eye level with the younger boy. "Hi, I'm sorry, but have I met you before buddy?" He coughed again, the effects of sleep still making themselves known it the slightly higher pitch of his voice.
