"My lady, please wake up you'll be late." Lucy shook me awake. I rubbed my eyes and groaned. A sudden sense of joy hit me, I'm visiting mum today. I leaped out of bed in an instant, "Quickly Lucy, I need clothes."
Lucy giggled and rushed to me with a formal black dress. It was a silk dress which had long sleeves and a large V-neck. Around the waist was a ribbon bow tied to it. Lucy helped me get dressed into it, then sat me down at my vanity table and proceeded to do my hair. Finally, she topped the outfit with a gold necklace with a cross on it. I thanked her and rushed downstairs into the dining room.I swiftly paced down the corridors and the stairs aiming for the dining room, the polite guards greeting me, eyeing me helplessly as I rushed past them mumbling a few hellos. Unexpectedly, my father requested we dined together before our departure to the cemetery. However upon the arrival to the closed dining room doors I realised something was wrong, perhaps I was only mistaken and my father awaited me from behind them.
"Your father has cancelled the trip." A voice from behind me said. I hastily turned around to face my stepmother, who had a pleased smirk outlining her face. I stared at her blankly in disbelief, why would he do that to me?
"P-pardon?" I asked. Making sure I heard her correctly.
"I said your trip to the cemetery is cancelled." She repeated as she rolled her eyes. I looked down at my feet, holding back the tears which were threatening to pour, unknown to me whether they were tears of anger or sadness. "Excuse me." I made out in a pathetic whispering tone. I made my way past her and became determined to find out the cause of my father's sudden change of mind. She scoffed at me as I left, obviously grimacing towards my misfortune. I quickened my pace and marched to my father's office.
My heels clacked against the stone hard marble floor. My expression, a mix of sadness and anger. The maids cleared the way as I hurriedly walked past them, a few whispered rumours about my current saddened state. The two oak doors continued to stand still as I walked up to them. Their presence looming over me.
Without knocking I burst in, with two guards behind me warning me to stop. Both my father and Mr Elliot looked at me, both in shock. "Why the sudden change of mind father?" I questioned with a raised voice. He didn't say anything in response, the guards from behind me tried to convince me to head back out. "Please help me understand why I cannot visit my mother's grave?" I cried out, my voice beginning to break, singular tears rolling down my face. My father kept looking at me blankly, Mr Elliot had a worried expression on his face. "Elita, leave my office, I don't have time for this." He finally spoke up, his eyes wandering away from me. "I wonder what mum would say to the act of treating your daughter so coldly!" I shouted at him. He stood up from his chair instantly, causing it to crash against the floor, "Your mother is dead she can't say shit! Stop acting like a spoiled brat and get out of my office!" He bellowed at me.
"S-sir" Me Elliot began however immediately stopped knowing he shouldn't provoke his master any further. Like daggers the words hit me right in my aching heart, he address the woman he swore to eternally love like she meant nothing to him, the very woman who had created the foundation of this family. How could he say that about mum and how could he be so cruel to me? Blinded with the tears that were still streaming down my face, I bumped into someone who embraced me into a tight hug of warmth and care. "Why are you crying sweetheart?" An older male voice full of concern asked.
I looked up, it was my grandad, from my mother's side. I began to wipe the tears off my face. "It's nothing." I said.
He shook his head, "Nonsense. If it were nothing you wouldn't be crying."At my lack of words, he took it that I wasn't quite keen on expressing my feeling and so he sighed in response, "Why don't we go for a walk." He suggested. I nodded.
