It was your first day and you weren't that nervous.. until you heard people talk about you and the CEO as you made your way into the elevator to get to his floor and meet him for the first time.

As you pressed the second to first highest button, a bunch of people rushed in to get wherever they were eager to go. You pushed yourself in the corner as people squeezed in, leaving yourself hidden. The elevator went quiet as the door slowly closed.

Suddenly someone spoke up,whispering to a friend in front of you. You couldn't help but listen in since there was nothing else you could do.

"Did you hear about the new assistant for the CEO?" The black haired girl whispered over the the red haired girl next to her.

"Oh no. Not another one." The red haired girl replied sarcastically as she rolled her eyes over to the black haired girl.

Now you were invested, looking away from them, trying not to attract any attention to yourself.

"Yeah. Another one. How much you wanna bet she's going to get fired on her first day?" The black haired girl replied, taunting her.

"Please. Do I even need to bet? There's not even a chance. No one can satisfy him." The red hair girl laughed as she looked away, not even curious about who was listening.

You looked around and realised no one really cared about what these two girls were talking about, they all were focused on their phones.

We reached a floor close to the bottom as some left, leaving room for more people on that floor to enter, pressing more buttons.

'This is going to be a while..' You thought, bringing out your phone to blend in but not paying any attention to what was on your screen.

"How many has his father hired so far this month? 6.. -no, 7?" The black haired girl joked as she pulled out her phone, to what it seemed like texting someone.

"Stop, you know it's more than that." The red haired girl replied with a tainted smile.

"Whatever. But I don't blame her. She's lucky she even gets to see his face. He never shows up to anything. Like he doesn't even exist."

You tried not to think of it but at the same time it bothered you. 'Is this really how everyone thinks of me?' You pretended to be more invested on your phone.

You assumed this was their floor since they made their way out as did most people, leaving you with more room to breathe.

You scoffed and looked at the elevators mirror next to you, "They have no right speaking like that." You rolled your eyes, "Who do they think they are? You'll do a great job."

You looked forward, making eye contact with someone who was already looking at you like you were crazy.

You smiled awkwardly before the elevator finally opened. You assumed it was your floor so you walked out, turning back to the elevator and making eye contact with the person who had gave you a crazy look.

He still did, but looked away as you stared at him. "I'll show them." You gave him a look of determination; he looked at you once more, changing his expression to a more awkward look.

When suddenly you noticed the floor number next to the elevator. You were three floors down from where you were supposed to go.

A gasp left your mouth as the elevator began to close. "No-no..no- wait-wait-wait-!" You launched forwards to the door, hoping the guy would stop it for you but he just looked away slowly.

The elevator proceeded to close. Your hands were placed on the door, causing you to sigh and fist the door once, before backing up.

You looked at your phone, realising you only have five minutes left to show up. You panicked, looking around for the stairs as you rushed around.

You approached someone who seemed busy on their phone, "Excuse me do you-" they proceeded to walk past you, as if you were invisible.

You let out a small whine as you turn your head once more to the corner of the big, crowded room of busy people.

You noticed the stairs to go up and rushed towards it. As you were making your way you slammed into someone without realising it.

"Sorry- sorry!" You stood up and tilted your head down quickly as a small bow, noticing the hot coffee spilt onto his fancy suit as he stood up from the ground with the help of the guy who stood next to him, groaning before he striked you with a dark look after scanning his suit first.

You payed no attention to his face, "Sorry-!" You said once more for the suit, not knowing what to do; so you went with the first thought and made a run for it to the stairs, leaving him.

"Hey-! -Hey!" His voice growled, shouting from a distance behind. It sounded like the guy next to him stopped him from chasing after you which was a big relief.

You checked the time once more, only two minutes left. You rushed up the stairs, making your way to one floor, catching a breath for a split second, causing people to look at you before you made a run for it to the next floor.

One more minute. You finally made your way to your destination, rushing down the hall and slammed the door open, catching yourself before you fell. Your hands placed on your knees as you bent over and  panted, gasping for air.

"I'm..I'm here- I'm sorry.. There was.. I was.....the wrong floor.." You lifted yourself to an empty desk. A big window view of the city, but no one was inside. The chair was empty.

"Oh no did I come too late.." You said to yourself. "-No. I'm sorry. I was late. Forgive me. I had a slight.. accident." A voice behind you spoke up.

It was dark, cold, deep. It sent shivers down your spine. "Shall we get to business?" The man made his way to the window, staring out into the distance, showing no glimpse of his face.

His hair was slicked back, giving more of a intimidating look as you could tell from the back of him, he was wearing a suit. He was tall, around 6'1.

"Oh.. yeah. Of course." You replied, walking up to the desk and placing your files over all the paper that was scattered over the desktop.

He then turned around, now facing you. "Tell me, why do you want to-" he paused. You looked around awkwardly, avoiding eye contact. "I..is there something on my face?"

Your hands roamed over your face, finding any imperfections. "You?" His voice seemed less curious. As if it wasn't a question. He recognised you from somewhere, it seemed."What?" You replied softly before looking at him. "Is everything..?" Your eyes traced down to the big brown stain on his suit.

Your eyes widened. "Oh my god." You quickly turned around, unable to face him again. "Hey- turn around!" He shouted. It was as if he was holding in a monster in him. You knew if you faced him you would get fired instantly.

"Sorry-! I can't do that!" You stayed with your back turned. He began to walk towards you. You caught him in the corner of your eye, making you turn once more, avoiding eye contact with him.

"Alright. Well. If you don't.. then you're fired." Your heart dropped as soon as those words escaped his mouth.

Your eyes shut tight in annoyance as you let out a soft sigh. You turned around to face him once more, but this time he was much closer. Hovering over you and inspecting your every move.

You backed up slightly. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. I didn't want to be late on my first day." You looked down, staring at his expensive shoes.

Something about him was just annoying to you, but you didn't know why. He stayed silent, expecting more for you to say.

You broke the silence, keeping your eyes below his. "I understand if you want to fire me. This would be a good reason to." Your tone lowered, a bit regretful.

After a few seconds silence as we both stood there, he removed himself from that position, slowly walking towards his desk.

"Very well," He paused, "you're fired.." he looked over at you as you feel your emotions drop, "..unless.." he spoke once more as a smirk carved his mouth..
