They were tossed into their cage, the door banging shut before they could reach their feet. Haroon, who was up first, was quick to his feet, trying to pull out the bars, trying to figure out an escape route. Nathen had given up hope by now, while Shilar had joined Haroon at the bars.

"It's no use, you won't be able to budge those bars even if all three of you tried for the rest of your lives," came a voice from the shadows, hoarse and deep. The owner of that spine-chilling voice stepped out of the darkness, his cloak hiding most of his figure, his hood casting a shadow over his face that only left his mouth illuminated in the moonlight.

A chipped kwandao hung on his back.

"You..." Haroon started, no doubt immediately realizing who this person was. That kwandao, that voice. There was no doubt.

He was the one their master had told them about.

"Yes, me," Kurai confirmed. "It's been many long years, but I haven't forgotten about anything. Those days when your master and I fought side by side in the war, man, were we a team. And then, he took away the one thing that mattered most to me. Don't worry, I'll tell you all about it soon."

He pulled out a scroll and a quill and started writing. "But first, let's watch him try his best to save your heads, only to realize that he fell into my trap the moment you three entered my territory. Now, I shall finally have my revenge."
