That's all I ever was to my Father, a disappointment. My Mother had difficulties when I was born, she was still around a for a few years to nurse me but when I was 4 her health got worse.
She died in the afternoon, my Father was supposed to be at work that day but was given time to mourn.
He worked as a Royal guard like his Father and his Grandfather before him, and his placement on the night of my Mother's death was as a guard to the King and Queens quarters, the night that their Daughter was kidnapped.
He blamed himself for the kidnapping at first, then he blamed me for Mother's death. He never physically hit me and he wasn't smart enough to mentally abuse me, but he did train me extensively to become a guard, saying it was what Mom would of wanted.
He lost his life on a work trip to Arendelle where he worked with their royalty, they all passed in a sinking boat during a storm.
When I became of age, I went to offer my skills I had gained towards being a guard to the Royals, but unfortunately they were at capacity for guards due to the family's experience with their child, so I was instead given a place alongside the cleaners... a waste of my abilities.
After awhile my income became smaller, there was budget cuts due to the King putting more money into search parties after the missing princesses birthdays, it was getting harder to afford the basic commodities.
So I stole, using my job and skills perfectly to take from the Royal family, but I made myself rules.
1. Never take sentimental items, while the princesses crown has quite a few gems in it, it is also heavily guarded and the Royal family would go to the ends of the Earth to track it.
2. Don't over do it, they won't notice a missing golden fork from the kitchen but they will notice if there are no more forks in the draws at all.
3. Try not to get caught, and if you do just rub the item with a cloth and put it back down, you work as a cleaner so no one would think twice.
Following those rules has allowed me to get enough money to nearly retire outright, maybe do something I want to do instead of what my Father wanted.

I was cleaning a window in one of the halls when I heard a commotion, the halls echoed with "THIEF!", I jumped a bit, thinking my cover was blown but I instead locked eyes with three thieves on the rooftops.
The guards were fumbling behind them.
A few thieves do come along, take a worthless painting or two that the Queen just thought looked nice, but this was different, there were hoards of guards going after these guys.
They don't seem to have a rule 1.
I quickly slipped my cleaning apron off and made my way across the roof railing, catching up to the thieves.
They ran for awhile into the woods, I was on their trail whilst I heard the sound of horses behind me.
I got to a dead end where the two bulky thieves were making a human ladder with the one that was more my size at the top, running off to leave the others behind.
"Sorry" I call out to the two who were left behind as I used them quickly to climb after the thief with the bag.
After a bit of running and almost an arrow to the back from friendly fire, I watched the thief swing away from me on a vine, then seeing the leader of the guard hit the ground beside me.
The thief managed to get on his horse.
The horse wasn't too happy and tried to take the bag away from the thief as I stood back, knowing how painful a hoof to the gut is.
