Seoul Olympic Gymnastics Arena; October 23, 2022; 3:40 p.m...
The stadium was packed, with gymnasts stretching and warming up for their routines, and the gymnasts' parents filing into their seats one by one to watch their children perform their routine. In one corner of the stadium, twelve gymnasts were warming up for their routine. One gymnast, a girl named Jisoo, who had black hair, pale skin, and brown eyes, was stretching her leg over her head as she watched a group of gymnasts take the stage for their performance.
"Sorry to make the mood even more nerve-racking than it already is," she said. "But there is no hecking way that our routine can beat Kitty's. She's just too good for us to beat."
Her teammate, a tall and muscular boy named Seung-hyun, who had dark hair and brown eyes, who was also her older brother, glared at her, while her other teammate, a girl named Seungyeon, smiled nervously.
"Hey, just remember that even if we can't top her, just remember that we had fun performing our routine," she said.
A boy with gray eyes and black hair with silver ends tied up in a bun, whose name was Taemin, looked directly into Seungyeon's soul.
"How are you so calm about all of this?" he asked.
Seungyeon shrugged, the same time the announcer announced the name of the first gymnast: a girl with auburn hair tied up in a sleek bun stepped out onto the floor.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 17th international gymnastics showcase!" he said. "Please be reminded that there is a week left of training before the competition, so gymnasts, do your best. Our first contestant, 3 time gold medalist all the way from Oregon, United States, please welcome, Kitty Corben!"
The music played (Gorgeous by Taylor Swift), and Kitty began her routine. Her routine was a series of splits, flips, and turns. To tell you the truth dear readers, I am not a gymnast, so I have no idea of the moves. Anyways. Kitty showed great agility, strength, and balance in her routine, and by the end of her performance Kitty received a standing ovation from the audience.
Then, it was Seung-hyun and his team's turn. A gymnast on their team, Taeyeon, took a deep breath, and she and her team stepped out onto the floor. The whole stadium applauded, especially on one side. Two middle aged women, who look like they haven't gone a day over 20, cheered like maniacs for the 12 gymnasts.
"Whoo!!!" they cheered. "Go Sadang!!!"
Seung-hyun and Jisoo's brother, and Taemin's cousin, Doyoung, smiled bashfully at the two women cheering for them. His older sister, Stacie nudged him, signaling that their performance is about to begin. The team took their place and once the music played (...Ready for it by Taylor Swift), they began their routine. A series of flips, pirouettes, jumps, and splits. As their routine was reaching a near end, Seung-hyun's brother, Junkyu, and their cousin, Krystal, held their arms together, and Seung-hyun was in the back, ready for their final stunt. His team looked at him with worried looks, but Seung-hyun closed his eyes, took a deep breath.
"See it, be it," he muttered softly to himself.
He opened his eyes again, ran, and did a back handspring, before smoothly landing on his brother and cousin's shoulders. The crowd roared into applause, and once the team disassembled their positions, they gave each other a hug. A few minutes later, the group came out of the stadium wearing casual clothes. They exited the stadium, marveling their accomplishment.
"I can't believe it," said Doyoung. "It's almost too good to be true! Pinch me, I must be dreaming."
His youngest sister, Jennie, chuckled, and at the same time, noticed Seung-hyun smile kind of sadly.
