Ugh that stupid bitch of a boss! Doesn't he understand the need for us to speak out? Lives are at stake here!
I continued my angry internal rant as I walked down the street towards to park. The park acted as sort of my safe space, somewhere I felt as if I didn't need to act perfect. Before I knew it, I was there. I rounded the street corner taking in the beautiful sight.
It was pretty out of the way so very few people were there, although one girl stood out, I took in the sight of the beautiful not sentient trees along with the sentient ones gathered here. One particular one of these sentient trees was sitting on my favorite bench currently. They were tall, at least 6.5 feet tall, smooth bark like skin, shoulder length curly green hair with beautiful delicate leaves on each strand. A weeping willow. They must have felt my eyes on her bc they raised her head, seemingly withdrawing from her thoughts. They met my eyes with beautiful, soulful, brown ones.
They smiled softly at me, a complete stranger. They said nothing and simply returned to her thoughts. They fiddled with a vine bracelet that graced her wrist. Suddenly They reached down to a bag that lay by their side pulling out a book and a pen. I hadn't noticed that bag there before, I must've been pretty distracted.
They began writing hurriedly, I wonder what she was writing about? Without thinking I walked closer taking a seat next to her. They didn't notice, simply continued writing.
"Hey, what are you writing?" I asked conversationally. They started their leafy hair floating about her head in the wind. Pretty. Wait what? I just met this chic— anyway, I should apologize.
"Ohh uhm, sorry bout that didn't mean to startle you!" I said offering her an apologetic smile.
They returned the smile, "I don't mind at all! Oh my name's Ever by the way, what's yours?" Wow her smile is so adorable.
Jerking myself out of my thoughts I realized that they had asked me a question dammit my brain is dead right now! It must be from working too much. "It's a pleasure to meet you Ever! My name is Ara." I offered them a pale hand. They shook it and I couldn't help but notice how surprisingly smooth their skin was for a tree.
We spoke together for what must of been hours before it was dark out and we had to leave as I had work the next day.
"It was great meeting you!" I chirped, "Hey could I get your number? Too keep in touch of course. You're the only person I've ever met that shares my views about society." You read that right! Ever also hates the standards forced on them, we hoped to meet again and write together or plan some shit. It was great! Of course I was also glad to be able to see them again, they were really amazing to talk to, and totally hot. Shut up brain.
"Sure." They responded. They tended to give laconical responses but I didn't mind. I spoke enough for the both of us. We exchanged numbers and said our goodbyes.
