I woke up in a bright, white room. I looked around and I was alone. I remembered what happened and I instantly started screaming. A nurse ran into the room and came to my side.

"Where's my Dad?" I asked, scared.

"He's in surgery." The nurse told me. "You're going to have to calm down a bit, okay? We don't want your blood pressure going up." She said.

"I need my Dad." I said, tears beginning to fall down my cheeks.

"The doctor is doing all he can so your dad can be with you." She assured me.

The door opened and mom came inside.

"Sweetie!" Mom exclaimed, running to me.

She engulfed me in a hug and it lasted for a few minutes.

"Dad isn't out of surgery yet mom. What if he doesn't live?" I said.

The nurse already left once my mom arrived to give us some alone time.

"He'll pull through sweetie. You know he's a strong man." Mom said.

Your Moms POV:

The next minute, Y/Ns eyes went into her head and she started shaking and drooling. I quickly pushed the button to call for someone and the nurses came rushing in, along with the doctor. I got out of the way and watched them at work.

"It's okay Y/N. You can get through this, we know you can." The doctor said, calmly. "Keep your eyes on the time to see how long the seizure lasts." He told the nurse. "There you go. You're doing great Y/N." He said, before the seizure ended.

The nurse got a cup of water to give her then doctor stopped her.

"She cannot have food or water yet. She's not aware and she hasn't recovered. We don't know if the seizure is really over." He said, before looking at me. "Are you her mother?" He asked.

"Yes I am." I said, trying to stay calm.

"Follow me. I need to talk to you in my office." He said.

I followed him to a room and he gestured me to sit, in which I did. He sat on the edge of his desk and watched me.

"Is my daughter going to be alright?" I asked.

"She will be. She needs time to recover from the seizure. We don't know how long that would take." He said.

"So what do you need to talk to me about? Is it something bad?" I asked.

"I'm afraid so." He said. "Your daughter suffered severe head trauma. Her brain is enlarged." He said.

"What do you mean her brain is enlarged?" I asked.

"Her brain is swollen and it's pushing against her skull. We're trying to bring the swelling down but it's complicated. Her brain is swelling more each minute." He said.

"How can you bring the swelling down?" I asked.

"She needs to have hemicraniectomy surgery." He told me.

"What is that?" I asked.

"It's where a large flap of the skull is removed and the dura is opened. It'll give space for the brain to bulge and reduces the intracranial pressure." He said. "I can't do the surgery since I'm not a neurosurgeon but I know a great neurosurgeon that is able to do it. I have to warn you that there might be complications and there might not be. Not until he gets in there. If he finds that doing the hemicraniectomy surgery not enough to help her, he may do a craniotomy." He said.

"Is that more serious than the other one?" I asked.

"It is. But don't worry, the surgeon will make sure there aren't any complications." He said.

"Who's going to do the surgery?" I asked.

"Dr. Lee. He's the best neurosurgeon in this hospital." He said.

"Okay." I said. "What about my husband? How severe is his injuries?" I asked.

"From what the doctor who's working on him, she told me he has five broken ribs and one of them punctured his lung another is close to puncturing his heart. He has a head injury as well. But she is doing everything she can to help him. When the surgery is done, he will be in the same room as your daughter. I'll make sure of that." He said.

"Thank you." I said, standing up.

"I'm praying for your husband and daughter to recover. We all are." He said.

"I appreciate that." I said, leaving the room and went back to Y/Ns room.

Her eyes were closed and I sat in the couch across from her bed and without realizing, I fell asleep.
