🌈Chapter 1🏠

I had just gotten into my new house, already trying to make myself comfortable into my new living space by setting up some of my paintbrushes, canvases, and paintings in a corner that I deemed suitable for my new art section of my house. I also started hanging up some of my older paintings I had already painted in the hallway's and in the living area.

Whilst I was doing this I was interrupted by a knock on my front door. I set down the painting I was previously trying to hang up and walked to the door, answering it.

There was a. . Caterpillar??? I looked up to him so I was looking him in the eyes. He stared down at me for a moment before introducing himself

"Hey there, new neighbor! I'm, Howdy, Howdy Pillar. I thought I'd come introduce myself to you and also try to get to know ya a bit."

I took a moment to process his words before responding.

"Oh, well it's nice to meet ya, Howdy. I'm (Y/N), (Y/N) (L/N)."

I responded calmly. Observing his bug like features. He had antennae, along with two sets of arms and legs. His appearance gave me some kind of inspiration for art. It was very interesting.

Howdy looked behind you into your house, observing the paintings you have hung up around the house, along with the empty canvases and paint tools you have lying around.

"Oh!-" he speaks up excitedly "so you're an artist, huh? Well there's a neighbor in the neighborhood I know you'll get long with now! His name is Wally, he's known best around here for his smile and artwork! If he does come over anytime soon so that ya know what he looks like, he's got blue hair, pompadour styled."

I look to Howdy, curiously. "Oh Really?"

"Yeah, you'll probably meet him soon. Usually he's one of the first people to introduce himself. So he'll probably be here to introduce himself not long after I leave!" Howdy explained.

"Okay well thanks for that information. I'll watch out for him!" I responded, excited to meet this "Wally" guy.

"No problem!" Howdy Then pauses again for a moment. "Oh by the way, I'm the owner of the shop here in the neighborhood! Whenever you stop by my shop whatever you buy will be 80% off! Since you're new here!"

I smile at him, gratefully. "Awe, thanks Howdy! That's really nice of ya!"

Howdy smiles back. "It's nothing really! . ." He pauses for a moment. "Well- I gotta go now, but I'll see ya around, I assume?"

"Yeah, you will. It was nice meeting ya, Howdy. Have a great day!"

Before turning to leave he wishes you a great first day in the neighborhood, then leaves. You close the door after he leaves.

"Huh, well he was pretty nice. . I hope the rest of the neighbors here are like him. Cause he was a pretty cool dude." I thought out loud, speaking to no one.

"Well I guess I better get back to unpacking my belongings. ." I turned back to the almost endless amount of boxes. . Today was going to be a LONG day. I thought while picking up a box.

-------------about 30 minutes later-----------

While I was in my new bedroom unpacking my stuff I heard another knock at the front door. I run down the stairs calling out to who I assumed was Wally.

"I'M COMING!"

I answer the door to see- a giant chicken?

"Hi there, new neighbor! I'm Poppy Partridge! But you can just call me Poppy! I brought you some freshly baked cookies to welcome you into the neighborhood!"

"Oh. . Hello Poppy, nice to meet you." I responded, a little confused. I guess this Wally guy just must be a little busy right now.

"You seem a little disappointed?" Poppy asked, confused.

"Oh! No no! I'm not. I was just expecting someone else so I was a bit confused! Howdy told me this other guy, Wally would probably be the next to stop by."

"Ohh" she said, understanding what I meant. "Well he is a bit busy today. He was working on a new painting. But don't worry! He said that he was gonna come introduce his self after he had gotten done with his painting. Which won't take long because last time I checked he was almost done." She explained to me.

"Oh well thank you for explaining things to me! Also thanks for the cookies!" I smiled. "They look delicious."

"Anytime, neighbor! By the way, that reminds me- I own the bakery here in Home, it would be great to see ya stop by some time soon! I could give ya a sweet or savory treat of your choice for free, on the house for the new neighbor!"

I look down at the bag of chocolate chip cookies in my hands, then looking back up to her. "Yeah sure, I'll stop by sometime. . . Probably tomorrow?" I questioned her.

"Okay! That will do just fine! By the way- I never did get your name? What is it?"

"The names (Y/N), (Y/N) (L/N)." I said with a small smile.

"Well it's been great talking to you, (Y/N)! I hope to see you around sometime! And I hope you have a great time here in Home!"

"From what I can tell I know that I'll have a great time here in the neighborhood! You and Howdy are really nice, and this Wally guy seems really nice too!" I said hoping that the rest of the neighbors were like Poppy and Howdy.

"Oh Wally is very nice! He's the most friendly of us! But all the other are also very nice, too! Well-. . Maybe not as much with Frank- Frank can come off as a bit rude when you first meet him- he's always grumpy. ."

"Well it's good to know that you all are nice. As for "Frank" I'll be able to deal with a grumpy guy. My brother/sister, (S/N) was always so grumpy. So Frank probably isn't too different." I said with a smile, thinking about (S/N). . It sure was gonna be weird not having him/her around anymore. .

"Okay then! Well it was very nice meeting you, (Y/N)! I'll see ya around!' Poppy says turning around to leave.

"Same to you, Poppy! I'll see ya around sometime too! Goodbye!" I said, shutting the door. Time to get back to unpacking. . .Again.
