Beep beep beep

Riley heard hospital beeps jolting up. Scared but said nothing, their neck was in pain, a burning pain, Colin sat on a chair in the end of the room.

"Good to heard from you, thought you died."

"Hm."

"Sorry I did not wake you, had to be marked." He touched his neck. And Riley touched their own feeling a weird burn mark on their skin 3rd degree at best looking at it through the small mirror Colin handed them it was the number 17. Like the one on their cell.

"Unfortunate."

Nothing from Riley, not a why no questions at all. This seemed to depress Colin.

"How bout we get lunch huh kid?"

"I didn't know they feed us here. Being that I haven't eaten in three days. I assume, could be more. Who knows."

Riley was sour. Had a blank stare a sad stare. Poor thing.

Colin looked around the room and raised his wrist to one of the cameras and microphones shooting it with what looks like a peice of glass. Every little microphone even the one in Rileys pillow.

"I like you, child. You are solem. For what happened. I am sorry I did not warn you, but he is a dange-"

The door rushed open with a tall but thin man, well thin at the waist but with large raptor feet and long thick forearms with sharp fingers, his face had three eyes either side, one big one two small ones, you couldn't find where the pupils were, being that there were so many eye balls in the eye sockets. With large horns and small wings for ears, a sharp long tail and large, large teeth that took up most of his face thought he had some really fluffy white hair. Almost looked like clouds.

He was one fucked up test subject.

"What are you?" Riley asked.

"The cameras went down and I was sent are you hurt Colin?" Colin shook his head.

"Apologies, my fault, I got a fright and shot at them,"

He stopped and waited.

"Exactly at the cameras?"

"Mhm."

Colin had a very good poker face, but he was not the best at lying.

"Well at least your alright."

"Yes now thank you."

"Are you not going to answer my question?"

"What?" The monster turned to Riley.

"What even are you??"

"A person."

"No you're not! You look nothing like me or Colin."

The monster seemed visibly shocked by that fact and looked to Colin.

"What do you mean.. child?"

"What do you mean?!" Riley snapped.

"There is a 7 ft tall skinny man with large dinosaur feet and long arms with lanky fingers!!"

Colin paused and looked at him.

He then chuckled

"I only see man in lab coat."

The monster stepped in
"children and their imagination." He nervously laughed.

The monster looked worried. That someone could see him. For who he is, Riley didn't break their gaze though. No no. They stared this beast down. Watching it breath and fiddle with its fingers. Not maliciously, only with curiosity.

"I'm not a monster!" He ran out of the room in a huff.

"Who was that." Riley looked toward the slammed door.

"That was Gabriel Sanchez, a close friend."

"He's weird looking."

"Watch yourself, child." Collin said bluntly.

Riley went back to being silent. Colin's face softened and he began to speak, then released the cameras were fixed? He grunted and then began to speak.

"Lunchtime, let us eat."

Riley got up without complaint, they don't deserve to eat, not after what they have done to all those children. They don't get to eat, why should they?

"Child, you must remeber, what was done had to be done, a new era for this project."

Riley stayed silent.

"You are the first and should feel good about this! A fresh start!"

Rileys eyes began to well up with tears.
"How many other childrens parents did he make a deal with?!" All they could think about was ehat their father told them and how this whole event came to be. The deal.

Colin paused in his breath.
"You and I both know I cannot answer that."

"Why not?!"

"Child. Do not push limits."

Riley remained silent after that, looking at all the security cameras that sat lining the hallway. So many.

Once inside the large lunchroom it was pretty much a desert, bare bones, the only color that sat in the room was the 'food' in the trays under the heating. Looked like any typical American cafeteria, which made Riley want to gag.

"Do not worry, child, we are not eating in here."

Riley looked up to Colin, then back down to the floor, they made their way through the cafeteria, which gave Riley time to look at how Colin walked, he walked like a soilder, though hands in his pockets which gave him a move, relaxed sense about him, Riley did feel somewhat comfortable around him, but the only reason they aren't running right now is because they didn't want to die.

Once past the kitchen they came to a door once opened body guards stood at the hallways end. All this security for a lunch room?

"Move." Colin demanded. And the soldiers did just that, not breaking their stern looks or even glancing at Riley. Riley stayed pretty much strapped to Colin's leg.

"Why so much security?"

"People want good food. Who is to blame them?"

Riley wouldn't see a thing until they felt four hands grab them and lift them onto a hard metal surface. Lights were flicked on and two actual men in lab coats stood opposite them holding Riley down to the table.

"Colin??" Riley said, terrified.

The monster from before showed himself again from out of the shadows.

"Good idea to lead them with food Colin!" He said.

Colin stood in the corner watching Riley. Rileys eyes widened as they were strapped to the table. The man then leaned over them drooling over their face large teeth threatening death in an instant, Rileys eyes squeezed shut wanting to vomit.

"Excited, Riley?"

He asked.

Riley shook their head no.

"I am~"

There was a violent laugh before a mask was strapped over Riley face and in seconds they were asleep, feeling. Betrayed. And alone.
