It was now Fall Break; Friday was a half-day, and all schools let out at 12:00 p.m. It was a Tuesday evening, and the friends met up at the park and took a walk. After deciding to have some fun at the nearby playground, the teenagers each did their own thing while taking pictures and videos with their phones to make memories over the break.Darren and Chris were sitting side by side on the swings, watching their friends enjoy themselves while playing on the playground equipment just like they did when they were kids.
They watched as Rose went down one of the spiral poles, they both watched their friend spun around as their shoulder-length reddish brown hair was blowing in the wind, they were wearing their old Tinker Bell wings that they had owned since they were 4 years old. They got down and ran past the two boys, trying to catch up to Jace from a few feet away.
The two boys started talking about the sleepover they were going to have in a few days.
"So, what day do you want to have the sleepover?" Chris enquired, fiddling with his chain necklace he was wearing "I was thinking Friday? If that's ok with you?" He asked "Of course! I can't wait" Chris beamed.
They continued to talk about their sleepover plans. Jack called out to both of them "Hey guys! We're going to get some ice cream! Are you coming?" Chris replied to his friend, "Yeah, we're coming. "Do you want some ice cream?" Chris enquired while leaning his head in the direction of the group. "Yeah" Darren smiled. They rose from the swings as Chris gently grasped his wrist and guided him to the rest of the group.
Friday had come, it was 11:00 AM and Darren was finishing up some last-minute cleaning in his room. "All right Darren, I think you're ready. I'm excited for him to get here." He thought to himself.
He then felt his phone buzz in his pocket and pulled it out to see a text message from Chris, "I'm here :)" It read. "Great! I'm on my way down :D" He replied to the text, feeling his heart skip a beat as a smile spread across his face. He then hastily exited his room and made his way downstairs to the front door.
When he heard the doorbell ring, he opened it to see his best friend holding his bags with his mother next to him. "Hey, Darren," Chris greeted him with a smile. "Hey!" Darren said, as the boys immediately began to embrace one another. Kelly then arrived to greet her friend Holly. They all began to converse for a few minutes before Holly left so her son could spend time with his friend. "Okay, well, I'll be back to pick you up tomorrow morning. You two have fun" Holly informed her son.
She turns around to face Darren's mother and adds, "And hey, I'll talk to you soon, ok?" "Ok, see you," Kelly answered as her friend left their house.
"I've got my gaming console setup; do you want to go play a few rounds?" Darren enquired, "Of course," The two boys then immediately headed upstairs to Darren's room. "Just let me know if you boys need anything." "Thanks mom!" Darren responded to his mom.
The two boys played video games, eat snacks, goofed around on The Sims 4, read Creepy pastas, watched memes on YouTube, and watched their favorite Tv shows in Darren's room throughout the day. They even allowed Maddie to play video games with them.
It was almost 5:30 p.m. and the two boys went downstairs and straight to the family room, where Kelly and Maddie were. "Hey Mom, Chris and I were wondering if we could go shopping and have dinner at the mall?"
"Yeah, go get my purse and I'll give you some money" He walked to the kitchen and returned with her purse as his friend and mother made small conversation. She then gave her son some money. "Can you bring me back a brownie while you guys are there?" Maddie enquired as she arranged her Barbie dolls in the dollhouse. Chris giggles at the girl's suggestion.
