Chapter 8

The next day...

Sitting on a blanket at the park, Zendaya found a sense of peace in the presence of her cousin, Zink. They had always shared a deep bond, and Daya knew she could confide in Zink about her problems.

"Zink I don't even know what to do anymore, I feel like I have tried everything but it is not enough to save this marriage" Daya shared, her voice laced with a mix of sadness and vulnerability.

Zink nodded for her to continue.

Tears welled up in Daya's eyes as she continued. "I never imagined my marriage being a fail, I mean marriage isn't easy. But this one hurtful moment that happened in our marriage broke us to the core. We don't even talk, all we do is fight and argue"

Zink listened attentively, her eyes filled with empathy. "I can't fully understand the pain you're going through Daya, but don't you want to give the marriage another chance before letting it all go?"

She hesitated before answering. " to be honest I don't have the energy to fight for it, I feel like these past months have made me feel all sorts of emotions. It also made me wonder if it is even worth fighting for this marriage. The last conversation we had turned into a fight because of the whole public cheating, or whatever you want to call it. He did explain to me what happened, but I didn't want to hear it... I was over it at that point. I told him to get out and give him back my wedding ring...I.. told him I fell out of love for him"

Zink looked at her in disbelief. Daya has told her certain things that have been happening but she didn't expect them to get to this point in their marriage.

Daya wiped away her tears, it felt good to talk to someone about her feelings.

"How long have you been feeling this way?"

"For some time now..this marriage and even just being with him takes a toll on me. I hardly see him and we don't talk" she said wiping away her tears.

" Other than what we all saw on tv, what did he tell you that happened?" 

"He said that he was at the club with his friend and that the girl kept bothering him. He told her to stop but she kissed him" 

"Do you believe him?"

"I don't know what to believe anymore.. yesterday he came over to the house because he needed a document he left at the house. There was an awkward silence and I didn't know what to say to him or if I should even say anything. Before he left he apologized to me and wanted us to get through this together. He didn't want to lose me and the kids" She wiped a tear that rolled down and continued 

"that almost made me want to cry but I didn't want to cry in front of him. The apology felt sincere and that's all I wanted to hear from him but with everything that has happened I just feel like I need a break from this marriage" 

"Well is divorce the last option for you?" Zink asked wanting to make sure that her cousin was making the right decision. 

"Well, Mom said that we have to try counseling first to see how that goes...but I'm not sure if I wanna do that. I am just over it, and i have for a long time. I have been feeling like I want out"

"I think you should give it a try and see what the outcome will be. the two of you have to at least try and make it work, not only for the kids but for yourself. I can tell that you still love him, I can see it all in your eyes, all tho I dont completely know how you feel I can understand that this is a lot for you at the moment. you know that I am standing behind you no matter what and if you need anything then let me know" she reassured her and hugged her to comfort her
