A worker drone named Uzi was currently in the middle of a presentation about a word problem about watermelons which devolved into a crazed rant about her sick as hell railgun. In a flash of light, she disappeared. The same thing happened to Khan at work. Meanwhile, in the spire of corpses, serial designations N, V and J were just hanging around, waiting for the sun to set so they could start hunting when the same thing happened to them. Thad, Doll, and Lizzy experienced the same.
The drones suddenly fall to the floor in what looks like a theatre, mildly disorientated. Shaking away the robot equivalent to dizziness, panic ensued. "Murder drones!" Khan's yell drew the attention of the robo-vampires, their LED eyes being replaced with x's as their mouths widen, full of teeth. The trio lunge, only to hit a transparent barrier. N is the first to recover from the impact, rubbing his head. "Ow."
The workers jaws drop, Uzi talking first. "Holy crap, it talks."
Serial designation J kicks the barrier. "What the robo-hell is this?!"
Uzi points with a malicious smile. "Ha! Bite me!"
Khan shuffles up behind his daughter and puts his hands on her shoulders, pulling her back slightly. "Now Uzi, let's not antagonise the genocide bots without a door there."
Uzi rolls her eyes. "Bite me, Dad.""If you're done." Everyone turns to see Orion floating in the middle of the room. "Welcome, femmebots and gentledrones of Copper-9. I am Orion. Before we begin, any questions?" N raises his hand. "Yes?"
"What are you?"
Orion floats sideways in a way that imitates laying on a couch. "I am a celestial. The originator of creation and the universe as you know it."
Uzi scoffs. "As if." Orion glares and snaps his finger, the workers turning into disassemblers and vice versa, another snap and they turn into humans, a third time and they are normal again. When he preps his fingers for a fourth time, Uzi raises a hand. "Ok, ok I believe you!" The drones are left panting, exhausted and confused after having their molecules rearranged so many times.
Being professional as she is, J asks the important questions. "So, you're God?"
Orion settles, having made his point. "Basically."
Khan gives the disassembly drones a nervous side eye. "Uh, why are we here? With them?"
Orion's eyes curve into upwards crescents. "I'm glad you asked Mr Doorman. If you could take a seat, ill be glad to get us started." When everyone sits down on either side of the barrier. "Now then, I have brought you here for the purpose of entertainment. Yours, mine and that of my fellow celestials."
Uzi growls. "So we're just toys for you to play with?"
Orion shakes his head. "Not really. This is merely an offer. Should you choose to stay, you are guaranteed safety, and have an opportunity to learn things you wouldn't otherwise."
J raises a curious eyebrow. "Like what?"
Orion gives them a cheeky look. "Ever heard of the multiverse?"This simple statement got a blue screen from every robot in the room. The idea of the multiverse was a very common thing to know, usually in science fiction, but to know it exists is a whole other can of oil. J recovers first, formulating. 'If we learn the right thing, I could find a way to get into that stubborn worker colony. Top of the quarter here I come!' She hides her enthusiasm under an uncaring glare. "Whatever. As long as I don't overheat."
Orion looks at her, already aware of her plan. "Picture a cup of oil in your hand."
Not seeing the point, she does so anyway and finds a steaming cup of oil in her hand. "Huh." After seeing this, V summons a bucket of oil.
Uzi is in a similar frame of mind as J. 'I might be able to learn where I can find that extra part I need to finish my sick as hell railgun.' She leans back in her chair. "Fine, but we better not see anything sappy!" With the two confirmations and with the fact they only have to imagine something they need, everyone else starts to agree to stay.
"I hope there's balloon animals made of workers!"
"Da."
"Sounds rad."
"Whatever."
"I love doing anything."No one notices Doll sipping on some oil in a dark corner of the room as the screen starts up.
