It's been a few weeks since the sleepover, and Biana and I have been on four dates.
We went to get coffee and see a movie two days after the sleepover. That was fun because I got to avoid my parents.
And hang with my amazing girlfriend, of course. She's the best part.
Biana came over two more times to watch the last How to Train Your Dragon movies with me. Once, she ended up staying the night and I had to sneak her out in the morning.
The cutest part was, she had to borrow my shirt to sleep in.
Guess who has the shirt now?
Not me.
We didn't count those times as dates though. Once, we went to the mall after school and Biana made me buy something that wasn't black.
Guess who wore the not-black short to our next date at the local roller rink?
Me.
And I didn't even mind.
But for some reason, the End-of year dance makes me nervous, even though i'm going with Biana.
Linh keeps trying to comfort me, but...
I'm panicking inside.
What if I forget how to dance?
What if Biana sees my terrifying dancing skills and runs away?
What if I trip over my own feet?
Linh's not worried. She's going with a senior named Wylie. I did a thorough background check on this guy, and after meeting him I decided he was okay.
But I can't make my mind stop worrying.
And the dance is tonight.
Tonight.
I'm a little freaked out. Can you tell?
Gee, I sure hope i'm not.
It was four thirty-five already, and the dance starts at five. I was meeting Biana at the stop sign where i'd first asked her to come to my house.
So Linh and I decided to leave at four fourty-five.
I had ten minutes to try and not panic. Nine now, after checking my phone for the time.
I flopped down on my bed and tried not to hyperventilate.
Eight minutes.
I can't take this anymore. I got up off my bed and paced downstairs, pausing when I saw Linh already there, looking amazing in a silvery-blue dress that reached her ankles. She had pinned part of her hair back with a silver clip so nice she must have stolen it from my mom.
"Linh, you look..."
She blushed pink and brushed a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Thanks."
"I'm assuming you're already down here because you're ready to leave too?"
She smiled sheepishly and adjusted the strap of her black handbag. "Yeah. Time was ticking by too slowly for me. And Wylie's coming to pick me up early."
Right on cue, a car pulled up into the driveway.
"That's him. I got to go, Tammy. No more panicking like I know you have been."
She gave me a kiss on the cheek and marched out the door the best she could in her heels.
Four Minutes.
