Chapter 1: Pillbug

Nate helps Inaho and Calm open one of the other hangers to have quick access to the sleipnirs inside.

Nate: say if areions were destroyed so quickly by the walking black hole, then what the hell are sleipnirs going to do, that fucker tanked a beam sword like it was nothing, and several beam shots.

Inaho: it's not a black hole but some kind of interdimensional barrier that seems to disintegrate anything it comes into contact with.

Nate: hang on you don't think.

Inaho: most likely.

The both of them nod before heading back into the school.

Later

Nate leans against the wall as yuki bangs on a bathroom stall.

Yuki: nao you're still in there right?

Meanwhile inaho does some calculations.

Yuki: nao answer me!

Inaho: occupied.

Dr yagagari scoots his glasses up a bit as he sighs.

Nate: give it a rest he's doing things in there.

Yuki: he is my brother and we still have to discuss that giant kataphrakt you have.

Nate: whats there to discuss its a giant robot with a beam gun, its not that special.

Yuki glares at him before turning back to the door.

Yuki: nao come out now!

Inaho: occupied.

Yuki: do any of you have the slightest idea what you're getting yourselves into?

Nate: yes.

Yuki: like that beam gun of yours helped.

Nate: hey it made the walking disintegrator stumble.

Inaho: it did?

Nate: yeah, the beam itself did nothing except make it go slightly off balance for a second or two.

Inaho: i see do you have the combat logs from your engagement?

Nate: yeah i was just about to go take a look at them.

Inaho: okay.

A flush is heard and inaho unlocks the door.

Inaho: i know it seems insane, but for some reason that martian was intent on killing us, and because it's focused on us it won't attack the city or the harbor, luckily everyone who lives around here was evacuated.

He opens the door as yuki backs up.

Yuki: but that doesn't mean you need to try and fight it!

Nate: oh we know, and we're doing it anyways.

Yuki: are you insane?

Nate: nope it has a weakness somewhere and we will find and exploit it, speaking of which hey inaho, that thing stopped after the truck went into the tunnel and almost immediately turned to me, i was like several blocks away and i wasn't exactly visible yet it knew almost instantly where i was.

Inaho: really?

Nate: yeah it's almost like it had drones or something.

Inaho: drones, that gives me an idea.

He walks out.

Yuki: nao don't walk away from me!

Nate walks past her.
