Being a Laming: Introduction of Hiro

Hiro hated living in the Laming household. He felt like rotting flesh watching his youth decay. Hiro was never allowed outside, and when Hiro questioned his father otherwise he would say "Why would someone as blessed, pure, and worthy want to contaminate our blood with those disgusting people who destroy the land and manipulate the elements with their tainted hands of evil?"

Hiro never understood why his father, Azuka, disliked the benders. What evil had they done? Avatar Aang prevented the land from evil, and he is considered a bender. He saved the world just before it was about to fall apart, and later settled down with a family. Sure, yeah the Fire Nation didn't excactly get along with their neighbors but that was all in the past now. There was nothing to worry about especially with the new Avatar Korra protecting Republic City. Everytime Hiro tried to tell his father about the good of benders His face would turn pale with anger, with a mask of facade his father repeated the same words he heard many times before "Those are just filthy lies that the stupid benders want you to believe. If the Avatar was so great than why did it take one hundred years for him to save the world? By the time that stupid kid came millions and millions had already died. Now don't you have something better to do, leave at once!" then he shut him out again. He was stuck to his stubborn, hateful ways and would suffocate Hiro with his stereotyped belifs. All he talked about was how right the Equalists were and the importance of learning the family business oh and don't forget the importance of staying trapped,like some bird, in his own home.

My wasn't it great to be a Laming. Someday though he was going to escape and see the beloved city Fire Lord Zuko and Avatar Aang so preciously created. Who would've thought it would be so soon.
