I walked out of the library and started walking in the halls to the lunch room. I had my folder pressed against my chest and I kept my head down. I was running a little late to lunch because I lost track of time doing my homework. Because I was looking down I ran into someone. I looked up and saw him. He smirked and looked at me.
"I'm sorry are you lost?" He asked.
"No I'm not. I go here" I answered.
"Really are you sure you're not new?" He replied.
"Yeah I'm sure" I responded.
"How come I've never seen you before?" He asked. I shrugged and looked away.
"What's your name?" He asked. I looked at him.
"You should know it" I answered walking away. That was Chase Logan. He used my best friend last year but she thought it was love. After what he did to her she left school and went to a different one. I was officially alone here.
After lunch I went back to the library to get the rest of my things. I grabbed my bag and put my folder inside of it. I got some work done while I was eating. I turned and saw him standing at the counter with a book in his hands. He was flirting with the girl behind the counter and I rolled my eyes. I went up to the counter and put the book I had there. I walked out and kept my head down. I walked out of the school and sat down on the bench waiting for my dad.
"Want a ride home?" He asked. I looked up at Chase.
"I'm waiting for someone" I answered.
"Really? Who?" He replied.
"That is none of your business" I responded as my dad pulled up. I got up and got into his car.
"Don't get to close to him" Liv said.
"I know. I remember what he did to you last year" I replied.
"Maybe I shouldn't come back" she responded.
"Liv please come back. I will be by your side. You know that" I said.
"Okay well my mom said it's going to take a month before I can transfer" she replied.
"That's good" I said.
"I have to go. I'll talk to you tomorrow" she said.
"Okay bye" I replied. She hung up and I went to get some snacks.
I went into the store and looked around the chips. I saw some ice cream and went for it. I found vanilla and grabbed one. I turned and jumped.
"Fancy seeing you here" Chase said.
"Do you ever stop?" I asked.
"What are you talking about?" He replied.
"Hey I got them" A girl said coming up behind him with a small box. I looked away and then up at him. I walked away and paid for my ice cream. I quickly grabbed it because Chase was behind me and I could feel his eyes on me. I leaned over the counter and grabbed a spoon and got down. I turned and saw them. I looked down and walked out. Once I was outside I opened the little tub and sat down on the sidewalk. I started to eat it. I looked at the one car that just pulled in and saw Liv. She smiled and sat down next to me. I passed her the spoon and she took it.
"Our place we meet when we wanna get away" she said passing me the spoon.
"Yeah I miss doing this" I replied taking a bite. The door opened and Chase came out. He had to do a double take when he saw us.
"Liv" he said.
"Jackass" she replied.
"I see you found yourself a friend" he said to me.
"Wow you forgot her already" Liv responded.
"What the hell does that mean?" He demanded.
"She's been my best friend. You've met her every time you were around" Liv said.
"I think I would have remembered" he replied looking at me.
"That is because she changed" Ryan, Liv's brother said coming over.
"Can we leave?" Chase's friend asked with her arms crossed.
"Yeah" Chase answered looking at me.
"I haven't changed that much have I?" I asked.
"You have contacts and a different hair style now" Ryan answered. I nodded and got out of his car.
"If he gives you any trouble find me. I will be around school" he added. I nodded and went inside of my house. I put the remaining ice cream in the freezer and looked around the house. I was home alone again. I went upstairs and went to bed hoping tomorrow would be better.
