You Should Really Be Wearing Shoes

AN: For the prompt: shoes. Because Richelle never wears any.

"Richelle, you have to wear shoes. This place hasn't been swept in who knows how long. It's not safe to walk in here barefoot, let alone dance."

"It's fine Ozzy, I've danced in worse places barefoot."

Ozzy pauses unlocking the door to the theater space to look back at her. "That's not exactly reassuring."

"And yet, I've never had to go to hospital. At least, not for this."

Ozzy drops it for now, he knows a losing battle when he's in one. She'll figure it out eventually.

Only, she never does. He figures that by the second or third rehearsal in the space Richelle will have stepped on any number of things, screws, pieces of broken plywood, something left behind with the space being uninhabited for years on end. He would've felt bad, of course, she's one of his best friends, and he doesn't want to see her get hurt. But she never does.

AN: I loved this prompt because the moment I saw Richelle barefoot during Kindred Stars it made sense character wise. But setting wise it reminded me a whole lot of the last play I did where they were building the sets there and we were told specifically we couldn't be barefoot so we wouldn't step on anything.
