A/N: Hi! First I would like to say that the first chapter is HORRIBLE, I'm almost done with chapter 2 and it's a lot more bearable. I've never shared anything I've written before so please cut me some slack. Constructive criticism is very welcome! I'm so sorry for any plot holes and/or mistakes. ALSO!!! the introduction SUCKS so please please please keep reading and give it a chance. If you don't like it that's okay! Just be kind. I'm doing my best!
My eyes scan the train station, a sign that says "Platform 9" hanging behind me. I smile and excitement fills my body as I turn to a large brick collum. Tightening my grip around the handles on my trolley, I take a deep breath and run straight toward it.
The cool air touches my skin. I let out a sigh, nostalgia, and excitement filling my body as I enter the area: platform 9 ¾. Suddenly, I'm ready to start my 6th year at Hogwarts. People rush around me, boarding the train. I look around, searching for my friends. It isn't until I turn to my right that I notice Arya and Willow standing together, laughing at something that Arya is holding. I quickly push my trolly forward and make my way over to two of my best friends, wondering where the third is. I speed up when they turn, noticing me. They look at me, smiling.
"Wren!" Willow says, excited to see me.
"Hi, guys! I missed you," A smile spreads across my face and I ask, "Where's Erin?"
"She's not here yet," Arya shrugs.
She's holding a small pygmy puff in her hands. She moves it to her shoulder. "this is Poppy." She says as its droopy eyes close.
"Aww hi Poppy," I smile, looking at the creature and then back to Arya. "I guess you'll have to wait to hear the surprise then"
"oooh I"m Excited"
I giggle a bit and turn as I hear the sound of trolley wheels and footsteps approaching. "There she isss!" Willow says excitedly, turning to the final addition to our 'group'. We've all been friends since the day Nevill Longbottom fainted in herbology due to Mandrakes. That was our first year at Hogwarts. Despite all of us being in different houses, we fit together perfectly.
I can't help the smile that spreads across my face when the three exchange hugs. I'm not one for hugs, especially in crowded places, so Erin shoots me a sweet smile instead. Erin says, "I missed you guys so much!"
"We missed you too but we need to go so we can get good seats," I say, gesturing toward the train with a small laugh.
Once we've boarded the train, we find a private compartment and take our seats, our suitcases sat above our heads.
Through the closed door, I see Draco and the other 'Slytherin boys' walking toward the back of the train. I roll my eyes. "Draco and his goons. didn't miss them." one of them taps on the glass and waves, giving us a sly smirk. they're so annoying. Some of them are okay; Blaise is nice and funny and Theodore is super sweet, but then there's Draco. I don't know much about the others. I just see them all together and try my best to avoid them. Willow waves, smiling at them. She's the nicest out of all of us, always trying her best to make everyone feel welcome. I always loved this about her, the way she could just talk to people without seeming awkward. That's something I've never been able to do.
A few minutes after the train began to move we heard an old woman calling, "Anything from the trolley?" from outside the compartment. I quickly stood up and opened the door, reaching into my pocket. My friends stood up after me, still laughing at something Erin said before. I step out the door and the lady looks at me
"Anything from the trolley dear?" she asks sweetly.
"Yeah, could I have some pumpkin pasties, 2 chocolate frogs, and ummm..." I pause to think, scanning the cart. "a cauldron cake."
"Is that all dear?" I nod and she hands me the candy. The others order their favorites and we enjoy the candy, laughing and catching up with each other—just like every year.
"so you guys broke up!?" Willow asks, staring at Arya curiously.
"yeah! It was crazy. I called it off at the beginning of the break"
I raised my eyebrows, surprised that Arya and her boyfriend finally broke up after years of arguing. I'm proud of her. I can tell she's doing better already.
After some time Arya looked at me, "So what was the surprise?" she asks, sounding excited and curious.
"oh! There's a Slytherin house party tonight. I'm sneaking you guys in." I smirk, looking at the three of them.
Willow straightens her posture, smiling, and grabs Arya's arm. Erin looks at me, excitement in her eyes. "seriously!?" Leaning back in my seat, I nod and smile at them.
"oh my god, what should I wear?" Arya sits up straight, turning her shoulders toward Willow who's still grasping her arm.
The two talk about their outfits, Erin joining in every few seconds. Their conversation seems to fade as I enter my own world, like always. I stare out the window as we move over a tall, curved bridge. I look down at the green trees beneath us and the large, grassy hills surrounding them. excitement fills my body and I smile to myself. This is going to be a good year. I can feel it.
