Chapter 1: Meet Aaira and Shaurya

"Sir, are you sure ke ap Ma'am se milna chahte hai? Woh bhi iss time me?",asks Dev, Shaurya's personal assistant. Shaurya Oberoi, the most eligible bach...oh nope! He has a wife.

Shaurya sighs and replies, "Abhi sirf 9 baje hai..."

"Raat ke"

"So what? Woh ek student hai and I'm sure woh abhi tak soyi nahi hogi", Shaurya says and indicates the driver to fix the destination. Dev smiles and whispers, "kitne dino baad finally I'll get to see Ma'am!"

"Tumne kuch kaha?", Dev's grumpy boss asks in a rigid tone to which Dev clears his throat and says, "Na...nahi Sir!"

Shaurya opens his tablet and says,"Cool!" Dev turns around and asks Shaurya, "Sir, ap aur Ma'am are legally wedded toh phir kyun aise alag alag rehna?" Shaurya glares at Dev. He closes his pad and says sternly, "None of your business! Tum bas itna kaam Karo ke tum apna muh band rakho. I don't want anyone to know about the contract."

Dev sighs and continues, "Sir ap bura na mane toh ek baat puchun?"

Shaurya hums a yes and Dev says, "It's been 4 years. Isse kam time me toh Wattpad, Kdramas, Movies ke leads ko pyaar bhi hojata hai. Ap dono kya zindagi bhar contract-contract khelte rahenge? Aakhir kab tak?" Shaurya looks out of the window and says, "Atleast tab tak jab tak Aaira mujhse apna final decision share nahi karleti. "

After a few minutes, they reach their destination. Shaurya gets out of his car and takes a look at the house. It was not too large but small and sweet. But it looked isolated as if there was no life to be found. The lights outside the door lit dimly making the mood sad.

Dev says, "I guess Ma'am fell asleep!" Shaurya looks at the brightness coming from the curtains of the windows and says, "Nope. Not yet!" Dev gestures Shaurya to go ahead and rings the doorbell.

"Maine kaha na-",shouts a girl as she opens the door. Shaurya stares at her with wide eyes and she gets taken aback by the two men. Shaurya gets inside the house and sees how messy it was. Books were lying carelessly on the floor, on the sofa, in the table and the half eaten Maggie added up to his frustration.

Aaira closes the door slowly and she quickly removes a pile of books on the sofa and offers Shaurya to sit. Shaurya turns at her and sees his super messy wife. She had sweatpants and a loose t-shirt on and had tied her hair to a loose bun. Before a word could slip from his tongue, Aaira says, "I'm sorry! Mujhe pata nahi tha ke tum achanak se ajaoge!"

Shaurya nods his head and sits on the sofa. He takes a look at a scattered medicine strip and asks, "Mujhe pata nahi tha that you were sleep deprived". He gives Aaira a stern look. Dev coughs in astonishment and Aaira takes her seat.

"Kabse tum yeh sleeping tablets le rahi ho?",he asks. She sighs and says, "Jabse dadi chali gayi tabse."

Shaurya closes his eyes and says, "tumhe batana chahiye tha. Maine tumse hamesha kaha hai that don't hide things from me. Tum meri responsibility ho and I need to take care of yours. Agar tum mujhe bata deti that you're sleep deprived, atleast hum kisi ache doctor ya councellor se consult karte, instead of taking such pills."

Dev says, "yes ma'am. They're harmful to health". Aaira glares at Dev and shouts "I KNOW!". She opens her laptop and starts looking at it's screen.

Shaurya continues, "Aaira! I need your help. Phir se..." Aaira looks at him and quickly sits beside him. She holds his hands close to her chest and says, "Shaurya! I know hamare beech me koi feelings nahi hai and you don't consider me as your family but kya tum please kal mere Graduation day pe aa sakte ho?"

Shaurya looks at their hands, intertwined now and asks her, "kyun?". Aaira throws his hands and says, "Kyun matlab kya?! Don't you know graduation day pe saare students ke family members aakar unhe wapas ghar lekar jaate hai!"

"But tum toh pehle se hi ghar me rehti ho! That too messing it as much as you want!"

"Urghh!! Come on! Aisa nahi hai ke hamare beech me koi rishta nahi hai. I'm your wife aka I'm a part of your family. So pleaseeeee!!", says Aaira. She pouts and tries to make a puppy face but Shaurya turns away to avoid the awkward air.

Dev announces, "Ma'am kal toh apko and Sir ko milkar Udaipur jaana hai. Sir ke kuch pending meetings hai jinhe kal unhe wrap up karna hai"

Aaria sighs and says, "jab tumhe meri zarurat thi tab I helped you nah! Toh ab meri help kardo tum. I don't want to face that embarrassment of returning home alone." Shaurya looks at Aaria's dried face and says, "Ok then. I'll see!" Aaria responds with a bright smile and asks, "waise tum kuch bol rahe the..."

"Haan! Toh you remember Ayaan? My cousin, uski shaadi fix hui hai with Dr. Roohi Birla. It's a family function and sabko pata hai that I'm married toh ab main akele toh nahi jaa sakta na wahan. It'll be suspicious so I want ke tum mere saath Udaipur chalo for the wedding. Tumhare exams bhi khatam ho chuke so it'll be a mood freshner for you"

"Ohh!!! Birlas...."

"Hm. Do you know them?"

"Oh! Nahi! But Neelamma ne mujhe kuch bataya tha ek baar....about Akshara Birla that she was a very good person. Baki maine na aj tak unhe dekha hai aur naahi I know them",says Aaira. Shaurya hums and Aaira offers him tea but he refuses.

"Waise aage ka kya plan hai?"

"Pata nahi...",whispers Aaira. She grabs her family photo- with Abhinav, Neelamma and her and whispers, "thank you Shaurya! Tum nahi hote toh shayad main apni padhai kabhi puri nahi kar paati. Thank you so much"

Shaurya takes a look at her. He pats her shoulders and gives her an assuring smile.

"Sab kuch bilkul perfect hona chahiye", yelled Manjari. Abhir comes downstairs and hugs Manjari. Manjari smiles and says, "Abhir! Beta Teri behen ki shaadi hai. Koi kami nahi honi chahiye". Abhir replies, "Janta hua Dadi! Aap tension mat lo. I'll make sure ke Roohi ki shaadi Udaipur ki sabse best weddings me se ek hogi!"

"Acha ji saara pyaar sirf Roohi ke liye. Aur mere liye? Kuch nahi?",says Pankti. Manjari looks at Pankti and frowns. Pankti greets Manjari and then hugs Abhir. Roohi too comes downstairs and hugs Pankti.

"Roohi di!!"

"Pankti!! I missed you so much! Kahan thi tu?",asks Roohi. Pankti smiles and says, "I'm so sorry di. Bahot traffic tha toh I got late". Roohi again gives her a side hug and kisses her forehead.

Manjari says, "Roohi! Beta tujhe parlour jana tha na?"

"Haan dadi. Isliye toh maine Pankti ko bula liya!"

"Tu Pankti ke saath nahi jayegi. Abhir ke saath chali Jaa"

Abhir who was staring at his phone, looks at Manjari. He asks, "Par Dadi aj mere bahot saare patients lined up and ap janti hai that mere liye mere patients and meri duty se badh kar aur kuch nahi hai"

Manjari cups his face and says, "Bilkul apne Papa pe gaya hai tu! Mera Abhi bhi bilkul aise hi tha. Kaam ko lekar hamesha laga rehta tha!" Abhir smiles and looks down. She continues, "Par beta Roohi teri behen hai aur usse teri zarurat hai"

"But Dadi, Pankti's there. Woh Pankti ke saath jaana chahti hai then let her go",says Abhir. Manjari yells, "Mujhe Goenka parivaar ke kisi bhi sadasya se koi lena dena nahi hai. Aur acha yahi hoga agar tum log bhi unse door raho"

"Di! Bhaiya! Let it be. Agar apko mujhe yahan bulakar aise beizzat hi karna tha toh pehle bata dete. I would've never come. Mujhe Papa ki baat maan leni chahiye thi", says Pankti. Without letting Roohi speak, she leaves the Birla house.

"Dadi apko aise nahi kehna chahiye tha. It's so not done",says Roohi. She picks up her phone and leaves.

A short update for the first chapter! Hope this sounds refreshing and good to read!

I know some of you must be doubting who are Aaira, Shaurya and Pankti but don't worry it'll be cleared asap! I'll try my best to make this one a light read for those who are undergoing through the disappointment from the current track🥲
