How do I explain this story? First, the characters here are originally from my novel With All That I Am released by Bookware Publishing Corporation last 2022. Available po ito as an ebook sa ebookware. As of this writing (25June2023), may mga pisikal copies pa ata ng With All That I Am sa mga bookstores at shops ng Bookware.
Kung nabasa niyo na ang With All That I Am, maaalala niyo na may mga drabbles doon sa dulo ng kwento–'yung mga snapshots ng buhay nina Vera at Declan bago sila personal na nagkakilala sa simula ng mismong kwento ng nobela.
This one shot is a bit like that. This is a 'what if' type of scenario or another snapshot of Vera's life when she was young before she met Declan.
Sa mga nakabasa na ng With All That I Am, baka rin mapansin niyo na medyo iba ang characterization at voice dito ni Vera. Intensyonal po iyon kasi bata pa si Vera dito. The Vera we met in With All That I Am is a mature and successful woman who already knows who she is. The Vera in this story is a teenager.
Also, this is my first attempt at using first person POV. This story is also about 90% written in English. Iyon po ay dahil sa characterization ni Vera. Sa Europe kasi siya nag-aaral sa bahaging ito ng buhay niya kaya mas komportable siya sa English.
And lastly, a version of this short story was posted on my Buy Me A Coffee account back in 2021. But this is not the exact same story. The POV is different and large sections of the original texts are rewritten in English. At siyempre, may editing din na naganap.
Ay may isa pa pala. Kailangan bang mabasa ang With All That I Am para maintindihan at ma-enjoy ang maikling kwento na ito? Hindi po. Pero mas okay kung nabasa niyo para mas may koneksyon sa mga characters. But this story can stand on its own.
So 'ayun!
