Jack shook his head, trying to regain his vision. Everything he saw amazed him, it was cold like Christmas but daylight and not as much lights or decorations here. He continued looking around with a shocked expression.
He came to a row of houses and crept around the corner. There he spotted two young people, one boy and a girl. They looked very cheerful and Jack could tell the boy had something behind his back. The boy said to the girl, "Happy Valentine's Day!" He handed the flowers and a box of delicious goods in them.
The girl said no words but simply grabbed him with both arms in a embrace that even Jack himself almost seemed to feel the sensation. Then "a kiss"? The two leaned in and their lips met in perfect unison. Their cheeks got bright cherry colored.
"This wasn't like Halloween where there was a scare behind every corner or not like Christmas where everyone recieves something from the Sandy Claws, it was more individual yet more touching. I bet Sally would like this," Jack sighed. He immediately wanted to go to the professor's home and ask to see her and get her these wonderful things. Jack just wanted to share these things with her.
Jack climbed the roof to a home nearby. There he found a window half open. Here he found a new couple warming by a fire, only they were keeping each other warm.
Hmm, Jack thought to himself. He heard the boy say to the girl in a soft gentle voice, "I love you." The girl made her grip tighter on the boy and kissed his cheek.
"All these feelings . . . so very pleasant," Jack murmured. Jack knew he certainly felt this way for Sally, all he wanted to do was get a chance to say "I love you," just once. It always crossed his mind when Sally was around but he was always too embarrassed to say, but not anymore. Jack let out a deep sigh and returned listening to the couple.
Sadly they left without Jack even noticing, and he slid down the wall with his hands clutched to his chest. He didn't want to go back empty handed so he decided he'd find something to bring back to her. Now he knew the true feeling of "love."
