Chapter 14: New Rankings

In Ego's watch room

"A progress report on this project to the JFU is almost due. So how are we doing...Ego?" Anri asked.

"Hold on a moment, Anri. I am about to experience bliss." Ego poured out the hot water from his instant noodles.

"Again, Ego? Don't you eat anything else? 

"It's overcompensation. My dietary regimen when I used to play meant I couldn't eat it. Now that I can, I only eat this stuff."

"At least clean up a little and do some laundry. Seriously..." Anri picked up a random sock before dropping it in a laundry basket.

"I refuse to do anything that others can do. And my contract says I don't have to do anything unrelated to soccer, right?"

"Well, is Blue Lock's first selection process going well?"

"Yup, it's going really well. Just watch. It's time to add some spice." Ego poured the spice packet into his noodles.

Team Z Training Field

(Y/N) sits down, stretching, watching as Isagi misses a shot on goal. Raichi had to come over and tease him about it. Isagi sits next to (Y/N) as the rest of the team participates in a scrimmage. 

(Y/N) grabs Isagi's water bottle before sticking it out. "Water?" 

"Thanks." Isagi takes a large gulp and wipes some of his sweat with a towel. 

Vmm. The tv turns on as Ego is seen eating instant noodles with some sauce. Mayonnaise perhaps? 

(A/N: Ew!)

(Y/N) takes a quick look at his teammates with Igaguri drooling.

"Hello there, diamonds in the rough. So the sixth round just finished. Here are the results and the table. Bam!"

"Three teams are tied on one win, one loss? Team V's got a huge lead. This means if we don't win the next game against Team W, we're in trouble," Kuon says.

"And here's some spice. Your player rankings are being adjusted based on your achievements and play so far. As a striker, you must prove your worth with goals. The more valuable your goals are, the higher your ranking." The ranking numbers on everyone's jerseys change, as only one appears with the number 265. "Which means the top-ranking player in Team Z is...It's you...Isagi Yoichi."

The ranking sheet is shown from the top down (265-275). Isagi, Kunigami, Gagamaru, Bachira, Kuon, Raichi, Iemon, Naruhaya, Chigiri, (Y/N), and then Igarashi. 

(Y/N) smirks thinking to himself. 'Bastard.'

"I'm still last even though (Y/N) is injured!" Igaguri complains.
