Beyond the Borders

Prologue

Cassie lunged forward strait at Nick. How could he do this? He killed her! He trapped us here! Just wait till his father found out about this. Imagine what everyone else in the pods will say when they find out! She pounded against his chest violently. Seeming unaffected Nick shoved her backwards causing her to fumble over her own feet.

" I need to find a way out before he kills me too" she thought to herself.

Just then she heard a branch break above her. She looked up to see that there was someone jumping around in the trees. He was shirtless with a dragon tattooed across his muscular back. He glanced down to her. The strange outsider had piercing, seemingly glowing, green eyes that stared right through her. She felt insignificant under his stare. He then flashed a quick toothy grin that revealed sharp, dagger like canine teeth. He had a strong jaw line and broad shoulders. Cassie was taken back. Shocked that an outsider was really here, and not to mention the fact that he smiled! Cassie thought they were savage people! Only existing to raid, kill, and pillage everywhere they went. That's what she was taught from a young age. As the outsider turned, she saw that he had a hunters bow strapped to his side and a quill filled to the brim with sharp arrows strung over his shoulder. Upon further notice she realized that he had a knife strapped to his lower leg. It appeared that he could easily kick Nicks ass if he chose. Being bigger in size, strength, and pure stealth. Cassie was intimidated buy him immediately. He was so graceful up in the trees. Weaving carefully through the branches. He was as graceful as a cat , and as silent as a skilled hunter. Which he undoubtedly was. Everyone on the outside was a hunter.

"Oh my god! An outsider is here? How the hell-
Her thought interrupted buy a sharp pain in her right shoulder. Then her mind flashed back to Nick, slowly forgetting about the strange, handsome outsider roaming the canopies of the trees.

Cassie spun around to see that Nick was holding a long, sturdy tree branch in his hands.
"Shit!" Cassie exclaimed.

Nick stepped forward, getting ready to swing again. Cassie's instincts kicked in and she turned around only to run towards a pile of rotting fruit left over from the recent aster storm.

As she was running towards the pile she fell hard. Hitting her chin on the dusty concrete floor of the abandoned pod, she screamed out in pain.

Cassie flipped over onto her back winded. She heard heavy footsteps approaching her. Using every ounce of strength she had left, Cassie lifted her body up off the floor.

"Well,well. I'm actually impressed with you Cassie. I would've expected you to break down as easily as Becca had." Nick said with a smirk.

Before she had time to react Nick unexpectedly lunged at Cassie, knocking them both to the ground. He had her pinned down now. Her arms trapped under his thighs, and her legs crushed underneath his tailbone. Cassie struggled to free herself but was no match, for Nick was one of the strongest members of their society.

"Please! Just let me go! I swear I won't tell anyone about this! Nick please!" Cassie pleaded. Tears were now streaming down her face.

"Sorry Cas but you know I can't let you go this easy. After all that teasing and flirting you had done, no. I'm not letting you go until you pay for what you did to me! You tricked me! And Becca had to pay for it too!" Nick screamed. He reached down to her eye patch that connected her to her friends,family, and everyone else in the society.

"Nick what are you doing?" Cassie said with panic lacing every word. "I can't have you telling anyone about this." Nick said plainly.

He tugged on the metal edge of the system causing Cassie to scream out in absolute pain. "Nick please! Don't do this!" Cassie yelled, again trying to plea for safety.

Nick ignored her cries as he ripped the system from her left eye.
Cassie screamed at the pain. That was now taking over half of her face. She could feel warm liquid running down her face slowly. Then the pain went away and everything was black.
