Prologue:
In the year 3098, the world experienced profound transformations, including severe climatic conditions and a deteriorating ozone layer. Among the affected cities was Zion, along with others, which faced the challenges of acid rain. However, these cities had their own environmental enclosures constructed from a revolutionary material discovered during a space exploration mission in 2500. This extraordinary substance had the ability to withstand the scorching heat of the sun and served as a protective barrier around the cities, allowing people to live their lives normally, reminiscent of centuries past.Within each city, diverse communities and factions coexisted. Some cities suffered from economic disadvantages, resulting in neglect and squalor. Others were under the control of the affluent, affording them a luxurious lifestyle based on their intellectual capabilities and communal collaboration. There was also a city known for its lawlessness, indulging in vices such as sex, lust, and drugs, where governing laws held no sway and life was perilous. The predominant governing entity across most cities was a corporation called Rent-A-Body Incorporated, which wielded significant economic power among the wealthiest individuals. The government itself held a substantial share in this company, and its profits determined the stability of crucial city resources like water purification facilities, food processing centers, weapon depots, and consumer goods. The corporation owned the majority of city structures. In this era, democracy was absent; instead, an individual's reputation and accountability dictated their position and conduct in society. Each citizen possessed a holographic RAM card ID (Reputation, Accountability, and Morals), which they were obligated to present when requested by local enforcers. This card functioned on a point system, classifying individuals based on their reputation, accountability, and morals, with each category ranging from 1 to 20 points.
These RAM points served as a means for individuals to establish their identity and navigate a structured way of life, whether pleasant or miserable. Our story begins with a man named Mark Burk, who stands before his mirror, overwhelmed with shame as he observes the deteriorated state of his body. Despite being a wealthy man leading a lavish lifestyle, the mistreatment of his body over time, with excessive consumption of processed foods, had taken its toll. He understood why the city promoted sugar and fats-it was easier to obtain and affordable for the impoverished. Mark held the position of assistant director of operations for Rent-A-Body Inc., overseeing customer logistics, accounts, and the artificial robotics that people rented for various purposes. "I truly look dreadful," he muttered as he gazed into the mirror. Above the mirror, his scheduled appointment was displayed, accompanied by his RAM card ID points, serving as a reminder of his citizenship within Zion, one of the wealthiest among the seven remaining major cities in the states. Zion was home to Rent-A-Body Incorporated, a city characterized by immaculate roads, zero crime, and the highest life expectancy. The food was grown using artificial dirt soil, a scientific discovery that ensured the cleanest soil for plant cultivation. Within the city of Zion, life was thriving.
Mark was preparing to meet a woman named Betty, whom he had only interacted with through cyber phone conversations. They had never met in person; their encounters occurred solely through the use of rented bodies. He glanced over at his unit, which housed his alternate body-a model-like, muscular figure. He had spent 200,000 Zin for this custom-built unit, meticulously ensuring it possessed all the physical qualities he lacked. The unit boasted a 7.8-inch and girthy penis, six-pack abs, and a flawlessly appealing posterior. This unit had the physique of a 29-year-old man, without any imperfections. Mark diligently wiped his body with a special gel that provided days of hygiene and nourishment, since his rented body had no need for such physical necessities like using the restroom or eating. As his cyber phone rang, he tapped the button implanted in his left temple. "Yes, my dear, I'm en route to your residence. Traffic is slow, but safe. I'm just about to enter my unit and set up all the feeding tubes and hygiene controls. Would you prefer to dine at your place? Ah, I see. Let's go to the Red Hot Crab Meat place then. I've heard that the meat injections they use enhance the flavor and prolong the enjoyment." Mark paused briefly, excitement building within him. "I'm leaving now. I can't contain my excitement to spend alone time with you. I recently underwent an upgrade, and I'm certain you'll be pleased."
Mark entered his unit pod, with the rented body positioned next to it. The door closed, and a machine initiated its startup sequence. An artificial intelligence program fitted a device around his head, acting as the core system to facilitate the transfer of his memories to the rented body. "Let's go, my love."
