Off to Join the Stars (Landon's PoV)

Chapter 6

I'm starting to drift off to sleep when I get a text from my phone. I decide to ignore it so I can actually get some sleep. That is until I got anxious. Like what if it was important? What if someone is dying? What if I won $1,000,000 from an unknown uncle across the globe?! Okay, that last one was a joke,  it still. I rolled over and saw it was a message from Alex. It was about the plans for sneaking to Aunt Linda's. I told him that everything is good and she is willing to let me stay with her! Which is good, but I'd still need help sneaking my stuff away. And, I should probably tell Billy about it so he doesn't get worried.

"Hey, Billy." I yell whisper trying to wake him.

"Mmm- five mor- How long have I been talking?" He asked afraid that I heard something he said, which I didn't.

"Not long. Anyways, I wanted to tell you that I'm leaving for Aunt Linda's soon. Can you help me pack things in boxes so I can put them in my friends car?" I asked.

"Sure, that's a pretty good idea." He said.

"Okay! Ooo AND YOU CAN COME WITH ME!" I yelled maybe a bit too loudly. I was super excited that I started climbing off the roof until I saw this look on his face.

"What?" I asked concerned.

"I'm not going. I don't think it'll be a good idea. Besides I'm leaving for college soon anyways." He said.

"Oh, okay! It's fine." I lied. Although I really wanted him to come, it was his decision, but I still felt hurt. Is that normal? I mean he is the only person in my family that actually likes me.

I start packing my clothes in boxes as Billy packs other things in other boxes. We don't say anything as we do so. I think it's because we didn't want to make anything awkward. About 30 minutes later, an old Camaro pulls up. I said goodbye to Billy and I walked out to greet Alex. I start loading the boxes in his car.

Once the car is full,I noticed that there were still more boxes that needed to be put in, so I left them inside and got in the car. When I got in we drove away towards Aunt Linda's.

"Where does Old Lady Linda live again?" Alex asks.

I laugh and give her the instructions. It isn't that far, just the city which is not too far from the school, so I'll still be able to see Alex everyday!

"She would whoop your ass if she knew you called her Old Lady Linda." I said while wiping and tear off my eye from laughing so much.

After that, the car goes silent. I turn towards the window and I can start feeling all the happiness leave. I start feeling like I'm a horrible person for leaving my brother home alone. But it was his decision to stay back. Maybe it was for the best.

When we arrived at Old Lady Li- I mean Aunt Linda's, we unload the car and take the boxes into the house. When I was asking Aunt Linda if I could stay with her, she obviously said yes, but she also said that she wouldn't be back for another week because she was in Maine visiting a friend.

"Something again tomorrow?" He asked.

I nod and head inside. Finally happy that I may live with someone that cares about me, besides Billy.
