Amaris Anderton had always been a rebel. She had a rebellious streak that had been there since she was a child, and it hadn't gone away. As she grew older, she found ways to express her rebellious nature.
As a girl from a wealthy, powerful and respected family, it was both ways easy and difficult to cause trouble. Easy, because the action of simply walking into her father's study and signing a contract, or shredding a few documents, could send the families' trading company into a spiral of failed investments, diminished business partnerships, and plummeting stock markets that could cost her father thousands of dollars.
But it was also difficult, because young girls in Victorian London were expected to do as they were told, and follow through her family's wishes, not run havoc stealing, vandalising, and defacing property.
It was harder for Amaris to be taken seriously in the wider society. However, it was exactly overcoming this stereotype of an obedient, and dutiful young girl, that made Amaris so fond of breaking rules, the anger and sheer shock on an elderly couples face when they discover their property had been destroyed by a young girl from a business family, and not some trouble making beggarly boy, often-dissolved her to tearful laughter.
It wasn't long before she found her match to a boy named Xander Bennett. He was just as wild and rebellious as her and they quickly fell in love.
Xander was bright, funny, and wild, he had wavy, sandy coloured hair, and sparking, dark eyes, both quickly became inseparable from each other.
Unlike Amaris, Xander was not the child from a wealthy family, infatuated with causing trouble for her parents. His, were middle class factory workers, their long hours and immense workloads made sure that they never got to pay much attention to their son, who as a result, started his knack for causing trouble and upsetting the calm, repetitive, balance of life his parents led. Xander was kicked out of his parents' home at sixteen, when he met Amaris who happened to be running away from the same angry stallholder.
Xander and Amaris enjoyed going out and getting into all sorts of trouble, they would steal from shop owners for sheer excitement, steal horses and ride across the English countryside, and even crash exclusive dances and events all around the city.
They both had a talent for getting into places they shouldn't, and they often found themselves in the wrong side of town and dealing with the wrong kinds of people. But Amaris and Xander didn't care at all, as long as they were together.
