Part 2 if there's response in this one.

<...>

There was no doubt that you had more than a crush on Shubman. You loved him with everything you had. You didn't know since when you've loved him, but you just know he has been there in your heart since you have gotten to know him.

It was in fifth grade, and you were a newbie in school. Some brats had decided to tease the newest addition in class and therefore, surrounded you and started teasing you. Tears swelled up into your doe eyes and your voice sounded broke while protesting when two boys stood up for you.
Shubman was first, followed by his best friend, Abhishek ( who later became your best friend too. )

You immediately took Shub as your superhero and began day dreaming.
You couldn't recognise the feelings then, but later on.

Since that year, your scrap books and journals used to be filled with quotes, letters and a lot more, mostly about him.

But he didn't even spare a glance at anything else but as his friend only.

He had numerous relationships, not one of them involving true and love. He wished for love, compassion and companionship so tried from his end, but as all know, we can't clap with one hand.
He noticed all, but not your feelings for him. Had he been attentive, he would have gained the stars and the love and understanding he looked for.

'Hey!'

You turned around and flashed a smile at Abhishek, who had hopped up to you with your favourite cheese chilli toast to make you feel better.

On the other hand, there is Abhishek, the common friend, the best friend and shoulder to rant on for both of you, a bit more for you though, because he knows how much you love Shubman and have loved him since long.

He would always be there for you to cry, to talk, to rant, to share happiness and sorrows.

And you both would talk about how awful Shub's relationships were and you both didn't feel guilty for talking like that, because those relationships were that only.
Even though you love Shub and can't help but be jealous often.
...

You couldn't miss the glint of guilt and sympathy that shone in Abhay's eyes as he looked toward you once Shubman was away with his girlfriend, after happily announcing their 6 month togetheness.

Even though you knew it won't last, still you hoped it would. You've always wanted Shubman to be happy.
You have never been selfish.

Abhay seemed to understand your feelings as he threw an arm around your shoulders, sending a smile, before ordering your favourite pastry for you.

As the days passed, it seemed that the relationship between Shub and his significant other only got sweeter and stronger while your mood became increasingly sour. The intense eye contact, the way he seemed to melt into her touch, how he flashed puppy eyes at her, how he always seemed to be waiting for to talk and cuddle him, or poke his dimples.
It hurt you. More that you expected it should.
So, you decided to shake off your more than friendship feelings for him. It would be hard you knew, but you have to.
---

'He called you to come and keep me company, didn't he?' you asked Abhishek, wiping your tear.

'Uhmm..' Abhay smiled sheepishly, scratching the back of his neck with the bike keys in his hand.

Shubman had promised you for a movie night, the ones they used to have together, since forever.
He had promised to have one that night, since they hadn't had one in months.

You had cooked his favourite butter chicken and naan, got popcorn, tuned into Netflix, but there was no sign of him.

After an hr, after tons of your missed calls and text, he just sent a text.

"Sorry, ( his girlfriend's name ) needed me tonight. So going with her."

It broke you. Totally.
You could feel the coldness behind the text.
There was never love. And now, there's no friendship.
You could clearly see that.
You were furious too. Not because Shub ditched you, but because he sent Abhay. How could he?
Abhay was always dragged and tortured in the mess for no reason, no fault.
He didn't deserve it. He has own life fgs!

3rd person POV ~

Little did she knew Abhishek Sharma did it willingly. Not because of being both their best friend, not because he had free time or anything.
He loved Y/N. He loved her truly.
And could literally bring a part of the moon of she asked.

Her smile noticing he brought her favourite flowers or came for a movie night, or took her on a bike ride, or her endless babbling meant too much to him.

What a complicated story!

He loves her, she loves Shubman and Shubman loves someone else.

He wouldn't have mind much if his best friends got together. It wouldn't have hurt much as much it hurts to see her heartbroken over him.

Y/N loves to dwell in her own world, full of roses and peaches, not taking into consideration about the thorns and pebbles.

And Abhishek made it his intention to let her dwell in that, freely.
She's too raw and pure!

Little did they know what fate had in store for each one of them.

It's all written before. And none can change it.

"It isn't about love, Abhay. I know now. It's about trust, companionship, compassion, understanding and a lot from both sides. So yeah, I've given up all on fate. It's just me, my work and ice cream now. Goodbye to infatuation." Y/N said an turned back to the ice cream in her hand.

" You know what, someday, you'll meet someone new and you'll fall madly in love."
Abhishek replied, with a small smile.

"Did you just quote Caroline Forbes?" She gasped.

"After all, I watched all the seasons thanks to you, chirpy." He flicked her nose and smiled smugly.

She couldn't help but reflect the smile.

" Accha let's go somewhere."

" Oye, you've flight tomorrow to Mumbai! Phir wahaan se Melbourne! So shut up and straight to home!"

Abhay looked offended, " You're such a buzzkill."
She just poked out her tongue in response.

And Abhishek knew, she's good.

Life is so uncertain. What you don't expect happens all of a sudden surprising you.

It has been almost a year she moved on and  when she looked back, she couldn't help but wonder how she did it.

And now she's here, getting ready for the prospective groom to come and see her.
She just hopes he's a "man". The man who treats and woman the way she's should be.
It's not an ultimatum from her parents to marry this prospective one, not does she has someone in mind.
She's be happy with what her parents and her fate choose for her. Everything happens for our own good.
