Conflicted by her recent access to knowledge, Bidi's gut feeling could possibly be true. She knew The Black Hand was bad news, but now someone old enough to know him confirmed he was a wicked man. Bidi would learn that Harvey lived so long to counteract his magic. A magical loophole to prevent The Black Hand from becoming too powerful.
The Black Hand had never shared his intentions with Bidi, but now, she knew they were sinister. She would pretend to be ignorant of his cruelty next time they met, but she refused to clear the path for him until she knew more. Harvey agreed to progress her magic without any ramifications, but Harvey had a secret plan as well, and she would unearth his ultimate intentions as well after a few visits.
During her first visit with Harvey, she stormed in with intention to kill the wild sorcerer, but there was no point. Even if she wished to help The Black Hand, she would never be able to find Albi without Harvey alive.
While she was with Harvey, he taught her a thing or two about magic. She loved that he would teach her out of the goodness of his heart and didn't expect anything in return, but he did expect something in return, for he had seen her power in a divination. He knew she would progress into a powerful witch, and his motive was to ensure she used her power for good and not become wicked like The Black Hand.
Harvey was so old he knew The Black Hand's real name, but he did not use it, because it would beacon the wicked wizard to them, and he would see that Bidi was compromised. There, of course, was the risk that he who must not be named was using his link to Bidi right now to experience from her eyes, but Bidi was not exhibiting any signs of being possessed.
Bidi had a question for Harvey, "how does he possess multiple wizards at once? I have witnessed him controlling hundreds of wizards at once."
"Long ago," Harvey started, "he linked himself to all magic on Frithe to draw from their power. When he was compromised by my family, he lost control of many aspects of magic, so his linking to all magical beings mitigated the damage done by my existence. My life is tied to his. When he does die, I will die as well."
"If you die, will he die?" She curiously queried.
"No, if I die, another Stix will be born to carry on the tradition. But if the bloodline is eliminated, he can reign without any checks to his power. That is why he so desperately wants you to kill the remaining few Stix family members. You are a rare tool for him, for you have access to all Stix family members, yet you are not a Stix, and you possess the rare trait of magic, which means he can watch you at any time. You are his perfect weapon. And he has used your anger with the Stix to coerce you to kill them all."
Bidi bowed her head, she had already killed so many of the Stix family, "I didn't know..." she sulked.
"The bloodline isn't gone yet," Harvey comforted her, "but few children remain. It is important you protect them with your life, for if you don't do his bidding, he will find another servant."
Bidi learned how to use divination without the typical tools. She harnessed her power through Harvey's teachings and foresaw the future should she help The Black Hand.
Should she continue down this destructive path, everything she worked so hard to achieve would be for nothing, but she couldn't let the powerful wizard know she wasn't working for him. She had to act as a spy for benevolence. Unsure if she could trust Harvey— he could be just as evil and try to rid the world of his nemesis— she had to think for herself, but Harvey did seem more willing to help than The Black Hand, so she had to get what information she could out of him.
Before she left him, Harvey wanted to teach her something very important. He wanted to teach her how to block out The Black Hand from controlling her mind. It was difficult magic, because it required great concentration, but it could be done.
