In the middle of battle, their eyes meet. both on different side but that does not change their love for each other. left and right everyone was fighting, weapons clashing against each other, arrows flying around. the air was heavy, the stench of blood and sweat mixed with the oxygen. the screams and cries of their soldiers as they kill or get killed. despite all that, their eyes never once left each other.

And then it happened. too fast for either of them to notice.

An arrow imbued with geo flew passed the pink hair priestess and lodge itself deep into the tengu's chest. the tengu was shocked, not expecting anyone to have the guts to target her. well, at least now she knew how wrong that thought of hers was.

She fell to her knees before her whole body collapsed onto the ground. she could feel the geo element seep through her veins, spreading to different parts of her body. she have had her fair share of getting shot by an arrow, but she have never once get shot by an arrow infused with an element. well, at least now she know what it's like.

The pink hair priestess watched with wide eyes as her beloved fell to the ground and bleed out. she could not move. she wanted to move, she wanted to run to her and hold her in her arms, she wanted to heal her, but she couldn't. her feet just wouldn't listen to her.

"s-sara," she managed to choke out.

the said girl was close enough to hear. sara turned her head to her and tried to muster up a smile. though that never happened as she was quick to grimace and let out a groan.

"sara," she said again as tears started to form in her eyes, blurring her sight.

sara looked at her and with all the strength she had left, she spoke, "come here, kokomi,"

as if her legs were finally set free, she moved them. kokomi moved quick, pushing anyone who was blocking her way. when she finally reached the bleeding girl, she kneeled.

"let me heal you—"

"don't," sara stopped her. her voice laced with pain.

sara took a few deep breath, trying to gain her usual composure back. "just... just hold me,"

kokomi listened. she would always listen to her no matter what. soft hands pulled the tengu. one hand rested on sara's stomach while the other held her up by the shoulder.

sara looked at her and despite all the pain, her eyes only showed love. that was the breaking point for kokomi as her tears were finally set free, falling rapidly onto the tengu's face.

"s-sara please, let me heal you," kokomi begged as her tears continue to fall down. the bleeding girl only laughed and shook her head softly.

"dying is a lot more painful than i thought it would be,"

"sara—" kokomi chokes on her own saliva. she couldn't let this continue, she couldn't lose her. not now, not ever.

"kokomi, this... this is my fate," sara said, pausing in the middle to stop herself from trembling.

kokomi shook her head. she wanted to scream at the dying girl and tell her that they could change fate. she wanted to tell her that fate was meant to be challenged, but she couldn't. her voice was stuck in her throat and so, all she could do was continue to sob as she watch her lover suffer.

sara lifted one hand and placed it gently onto kokomi's red cheek, kokomi choose to ignore the slight trembling of the hand. the other grabbed kokomi's hand that was resting on her stomach and intertwined their fingers together.

"live a life with no regrets my love, i'll always be there to support you, i promise," sara said.

kokomi leans into the trembling hand, finding comfort in the warmth of the palm.

"i love you, kokomi," sara said as she lets out her last breath. the slight tremble of her hand stopped, and the once comforting warmth turned cold.

kokomi's tears continue to flow out as she watched her beloved eyes slowly fall shut. the fingers intertwined with hers grew limp and the once fluffy red lips grew purple. kokomi screamed her name over and over again, but she was only met with silence.

that night, kokomi stayed on the battlefield longer than necessary.
