BOOM! The explosion rattled his bones even as he sat in that school house. What could it be? Then a man came running in. "It's a boat it'd gone up in flames!" Finnick felt his heart skip a beat. His father was on a boat. Surly, it couldn't be him. Right? He looked at his sister Scarlett. His twin thought they looked nothing alike. Her long dark hair. Pale skin that was almost always sun burnt and her ice blue eyes. So cold and blue, they really could be shards of ice trapped in her eyes. So different form every one around her with there light hair and bronze skin. She was no less beautiful, though, even if they were only twelve.

Everyone flooded out the door. Almost all of the kids had at least one parent who worked on a boat. You could see the fear in their eyes that it could be their mother or father. The same fear Finnick knew was in his eyes. The sun blinded the children as they left the school. It was hot, which wasn't shocking. But still uncomfortable. Finnick could already see the smoke. All the children ran. All praying silent prayers that the boat wouldn't be there's.

As they rounded the bend, the horrific scean came into view. A large ship engulfed in flames. It's chestnut hual charred and black . It's beautiful white sales tattered as the flames spread to them. But this wasn't just any ship. This was a ship Finnick had been on. This was the ship that taught him how to sail. That would one day be his. This was his father's ship. The ship he was on. If there was any doubt in his mind when he saw just through the smoke and flames. A name in swirling writing. The Silver Trident It was her alright. A strangled gasp escaped his lips. Her looked at Scarlett, who glared daggers at the ship. She was a ticking time bomb. One false move, and she would sink one of her self-made daggers into someone's stomach. " Finnick," his teacher called. She hated him. Probably cuse all the girls were too busy drooling over him inside of paying attention to her. But her eyes were full of sadness and pity when they looked at him. She was super tall, at least six feet. She dropped to one knee, so she was at eye level. She put her hands on his shoulders." Finnick... they found your father...it's not good."

Finnick followed her as fast as he could, but his world was spinning. He couldn't think. Anxiety was pulling him down. It was crushing him. He had to remind himself to breathe. He was cold even though it was well over 80° he couldn't let himself fall into the dark pit, or he knew he'd never climb out. He saw his father. He couldn't contain himself he sprinted ahead of his teacher. He was unconscious on the sand. Waves laping up to his knees. His right arm had been burned off almost completely. He had a huge gash wound that stretched from his chest to his strength and was gushing blood. Finnick saw his mother she was knelt beside him. Finally dropped to his knees beside her. Scarlett on the other side. Old Joe, a kind old sea captain, held Finnicks fathers head up." I sent me first mate for the doctor." He looked down grimly." But it doesn't look good. His right lung is definitely puncherd. But Esbens young. " he said, trying to be hopeful. But Finnick knew what he meant. Yes, District 4 was better off than many districts, but they still had their poor. The towns that had to really work for what they got. And They lived in the smallest. Of them. A place called the cape. His father moaned and opened his eyes. "Estraya, is that you?" Yes, my darling, listen, the doctor is on his way. Just stay with me till then." He shook his head." Now I can't." Finnicks mother began to object, but Esben took her hand." Listen, stay strong. You must stay strong!" His mother was nodding her head, but the tears streaming down her face made it hard to take the promise seriously. Still, his father turned to Finnick. He grabbed his arm, pulling him closer." You're the man of the house now." Finnick was too shocked by his words he couldn't respond. So his father shook him harder. " Do you hear me it's up to you now. You take care of your mother and sisters." Finnick nodded his head. God, where is that doctor?" He questioned in his head. His father then turned to Scarlett." You help your brother now ye hear. He can't do it on his own, you hear me!" Truer words were never spoken. Finnick couldn't do it on his own. Scarlett looked at him. " Stop acting like you're gonna die!" She snapped. Finnick looked at her in disbelief. He and his mother were total messes. His mother was sobbing hysterically. And Finnick felt like a tsunami was crushing him. There was no end in sight. But Scarlett had cold, hard resolve in her eyes. No tears but anger.
