The following day, I woke up feeling much better. I was no longer angry, and my demeanor was back to normal. I quickly left to work to apologize to my neighbors for my behavior. Once I got to Howdy's bodega, I smiled at him.
"Morning, Howdy! How'd you sleep?" I asked him.
"I slept pretty well. I see you're much better!" Howdy replied, I nodded.
"Yeah, sorry for my bad mood. I probably woke up on the wrong side of the bed!" I laughed with Howdy for a moment, even though I knew that wasn't the reason, before giving his mail and being on my way. Next stop: Baranaby's. I knocked at the door and Barnaby opened it, still in his pajamas.
"Morning, Eddie. Why so early?" He yawned.
"Oh, I wanted to get ahead of my work so I could apologize to everyone. Speaking of apologizing, I'm sorry for being so hostile yesterday." I said.
"It's alright, don't worry about it!" Barnaby smiled. I rummaged through my bag and found one letter for him."Here you go, from Wally." Barnaby nodded and we parted ways. Now was Frank's house. I lashed out at him yesterday... I wonder how this will go down, I thought. Once I reached his house, I heard talking coming from inside.
"Frank, don't be so nervous!" I listened, I could tell Julie was over at his house."Oh hush, you'd be nervous if this happened to you!" Frank said. I wonder what they're talking about. I knocked on the door and Julie quickly opened it.
"Heya, Eddie!" She smiled at me, and I returned the smile.
"Good morning, Julie! Although it is good to see you, could I talk to Frank real quick?" I asked. Julie snickered and I noticed Frank tense up and blush in his house, avoiding eye contact.
"Why of course you can, it's his house anyways! Come over here, Frank. Get your mail!" She exclaimed, moving out of the way for Frank.
"Hello, Eddie." He awkwardly muttered.
"Hey, Frank. I wanna say sorry for having an outburst yesterday. I wasn't in the right mood." I said, frowning just like him.
"No no, it's alright. We all have those days sometimes..." He reassured me.
"Oh, thank you for forgiving me, Frank! My apologies go to you as well, Julie." I told Julie, and she nodded from around the corner. "Well, I best get you your mail then." Frank nodded while I shuffled through my bag, finding a box from Sally. I handed it to him and told Julie I'd leave her mail at her door, then left.
[Random A/N: I'm not done writing this chapter yet, but I have a feeling this chapter will be short. I've got plans for chapter 11; which I'm going to start writing after this]
After finishing my job, I saw one more note on top of the drop-off bin. I picked it up and read who it was addressed to.
"To... Eddie." I stared at the letter for a moment before realizing there was no 'from'. Just a small, red, wax heart stamp to close the envelope. I quickly went inside, making sure not to damage the cool stamp.
"Dearest Eddie,"
"Although I can not bring myself to speak to you about this in person, I can write letters."
"I know you do not think of me how I think of you,"
"But maybe one day, you'll love me too."
"This letter may be cheesy,"
"And you may think it's sleazy,"
"But"
Then the letter stopped. There were many eraser marks like they were trying to finish it, but they couldn't.
[A/N: COMPLETELY MY FAULT, IDK HOW TO WRITE POEMS LMAO WORK WITH ME HERE]I pinned the note on my fridge, thinking about who could've written it. Who could like me? I've hardly been here a month... I thought. I guess I'll have to ask around and see how people act, and ask if they like poetry...
