"That. Was. Great!" Jess runs up to me, a huge grin plastered on her face. "I got so much intel about the game and without even knowing it Coach gave me some seriously juicy gossip. Did your interview go well?" She asks a certain look in her eyes.

"Yeah, it was good."

"Hey!" We both turn to see Gia and Finn waving us down. "Come on I want to get good seats!"

Jess turns to me with a smile. "We can compare notes later, let's go watch the game!" So that is a thing.

The three of them tried and failed to explain what was going on during the game but I enjoyed it nonetheless. If anything, my inability to comprehend a sport they loved made joking and laughing a whole lot easier. It turned from a high stress game into more of a fun experience.

What I could tell however, was just how skilled Micah was, both as a player and as a captain. When he had the ball, there was no chance for the opponents, he ran lightning fast with speed and agility. Whenever he had control the crowd went instantly nuts, everyone on our side cheered and chanted and praised him and the energy of it all felt electric, making it difficult not to smile or laugh at the sheer intensity.

We won, in the end. And I couldn't help but notice that once the team firmly held the lead both human players were given game time. After what looked like a somewhat intense talk between the coach and Micah.

"We were thinking about heading down to the docks to grab some grub after the game, did you want to join us?" Finn asks as everyone starts to leave the stand, victory music still blaring through the speakers.

"I've actually got something planned after this," I say and Jess is the only one of the three to look at me suspiciously.

"Are you going to that party later on? News is starting to spread that the victory has called for a larger amount of people and a whole lot more booze. The wolf kind," Gia says, glancing up from her phone to give Finn a mischievous smirk.

"No way I'm bringing you home like that again, your parents will literally kill me. Literally." Finn gives her a dead pan expression and Jess just jiggles her keys in the air.

"Lucky I'm the designated driver anyway. If you change your mind I can give you a lift from the party," she says to me. "But first a girls gotta eat. I'm starved, let's go!" She yells beginning to walk with the rest of the crowd. Finn and Gia rush after her.

"Sorry to leave but she's our ride, and I'm betting the docks downtown are going to be packed!" Finn yells and I shake my head, smiling.

"It's all good!" I yell back and they leave together, joking and laughing with the rest of the smiling crowd.

I wait in my seat, scrolling aimlessly on my phone until the stand clears out and most people have gone, a few still lingering behind before I get up and walk down to the field just as the cheer squad walks out from the change rooms, holding duffel bags and water bottles as they all chat and laugh.

Molly waves at me and I return the gesture before looking back at my phone, the temperature of the air dropping into a worse chill. I watch the few workers packing away equipment, pulling banners and tidying the field ready for the next day. They do it so methodically, yet none seem dissatisfied with their job.
