'60 days?' We all yelled at the same time.
No no no no, this can't be happening, I can't afford this. 60 days mean two months, oh god what have I gotten myself into?
'This is not fare!' Exclaimed Tessa. Theo's current friends-with-benefits, who loves to call herself his girlfriend. This is another reason why I hate him; he thinks he is the king of this school or something and plays with the girls' hearts whenever he feels bored.
'Tell me about it, Miss Green.' Mr. Howe shot back. 'I am handling, a bunch of irritating students after school while everyone else is either going home or at home having fun.'
Although the 'bunch of irritating students' comment hurt, I still sympathize with Mr. Howe. Today was supposed to be his anniversary dinner/date night with his wife and we are ruining his plans.
I look down towards the ground, to show how bad I feel for what I did. even though I think it wasn't my fault. This was bound to happen one day and I just feel a tiny bit of sorry that it happened today.
'Still, 60 days are too much, sir. We are very sorry for what we did.' This time it was Rue who was talking. Rue has always been such a gentle soul; I don't know what she is doing with this bunch of idiots.
I look towards my friends standing to my right and see all of them looking pleadingly toward Mr. Howe. But I saw the annoyance in our teacher's eyes and I was sure we are not getting out of this without consequences.
'I love how you guys are now coming together to plead. so, I have decided...' Mr. Howe started. I think he is going to reduce the days of our punishment.' Let's make it a partner assignment. you'll get a partner to work with, instead of writing daily good things about everyone for 60 days you'll be only writing good things and your experiences with your partner for 60 days. ok?'
I sigh in relief, now I'll get enough time to prepare for the upcoming tests. I looked towards Stella my best friend and smiled seeing that she is looking at me too.
There is an unwritten pact between us. If we are asked to do a partner anything, we both would select one another and no one else. I would gladly write over 90 pages on what's good in Stella. it would be a piece of...
'I'll assign your partners to you.' Mr. Howe turned towards his table. we 9 people were standing in Mr. Howe's office with our mouths hanging wide. I knew what was coming, I was sensing the dread.
Please God let it be Rue or Tessa, I can handle them. Please, please, God.
'Ok, Miss. Sterling with Mr. Williams, Miss. Parkins with Miss. Green, Miss Bennett with Mr. Marsh, Miss. Lambert with Mr. Wagner...' It was unbelievable. I can't see why Mr. Howe would punish us like this.
Miss. Sterling with Mr. Williams.
Miss. Sterling with Mr. Williams.
Miss. Sterling with Mr. Williams.
'Sir, can I get Rue in exchange for Tessa?' Stella said while throwing daggers at Tessa. In contrast, I was lost in my thoughts.
Tessa faked a cough,' Bitch.'
Before the matter could escalate Mr. Howe said, 'This is not a mall, Miss. Perkins. This is my office and you are currently getting punishment, not a dress.' Stella looked embarrassed. 'You guys have no empathy or guilt as far as I see, this makes me feel so sad and angry. I am here stuck with you guys and this is your punishment for wasting my time as well as not respecting each other. I hope this is clear.'
Now it does feel like a punishment. I looked towards the tall figure sitting on the chair beside the window while we all were standing. He is looking outside like he is lost in a daydream.
Two things were surprisingly new this day. First, I have never seen Mr. Howe this angry, and second, I have never seen Theo this silent.
