After a life-altering accident ten months ago, that depressed, lonely girl who was treated like trash by her family is no longer the same person.

TEN MONTHS AGO.

It was my sixteenth birthday, and my parents were taking me to a very special place—the same place where grandpa took dad on his sixteenth birthday—to celebrate what was going to be the best day of my life.

"Vella, come on over; breakfast is ready," the mother yelled.

"Coming, mom said Vella, running down the stairs, as in always cheerful mood

"Good morning, mom and dad ",said Vella in a thrilled voice

"Good morning, dear ",Said both the parents in union

My parents and I did not have a bad or good relationship; they were just carrying out their parental duties by providing me with a place to live, a school where I could attend, and access to basic necessities like food and clothing. I was always the neglected child, and all I ever wanted was their love, care, and warmth, but they never once tried to give it to me.

I asked my mother, "Where is Ethan, mom?" as I savored those delectable pancakes drizzled with chocolate syrup and strawberry topping.

"He is staying over at Liam's house and will not be back until tomorrow."

"Because we are going to a really special place today, I want him to stay for the birthday because he will not be able to enjoy all of the fun." i said it in a whiney tone

"No, Vella. He really wanted a sleepover with Liam and has been waiting for it for the last two weeks. He cannot come," she said flatly, her gaze fixed on mine.

"Please, mom, please let him come along; without him, there will be no fun, mom." I begged her with puppy eyes, and she let Ethan come with us today.

" NO , VELLA  Do you not get it all at once? Why do you have to argue with me all the time as you get older and become such a spoiled brat? I should have been stricter with you, I think. Her tone and expression make it clear that she is upset with me, and Dad never says anything or challenges Mom's decisions.

They always have  loved my baby brother more than me He is very young, and my mom has always favored him more than me. That's totally okay with me, and I would have never been jealous of it. He is my baby brother. I would do anything for him because I adore him more than anything. I love him the most

"I will not do it again, mom. I am sorry."

You really shouldn't. Now go ahead and finish your breakfast and get dressed.

"We will be leaving in 20 minutes, so do not be late." He always appears unaffected by his mother's behavior toward me.

I have always wanted my life to be like other children's, where I go to school, concerts, the park, or spend time with their parents. However, after all these years, I have become overwhelmed by it all and have taken to living alone in my own world, doing things that bring me joy. It hurts too much that no one is inquiring about your well-being, day's events, preferences, or level of enjoyment.

My grandfather is the only person who loves me; he has always loved and cared for me. On my sixteenth birthday, he has promised to reveal to me the family secret that makes you unique. He is the best grandpa ever.

"Vella hurry up, we have to go to Grandpa's house, it is going to be late," dad yelled from downstairs.

"Coming, dad," I quickly gather my tote bag, which contains a book, a small wallet, a claw clip, a water bottle, a power band, and my phone. When I look in the mirror, I see that I am wearing a cute white and black crop top with a panda design on it, as well as flared jeans that go perfectly with my sneakers.

And then we got to Grandpa Mansion, a place tainted by power, strength, and magic. He also has a stunning lake that appears even more magnificent at dawn. Whenever I visited my grandparents, I always felt like there was something calling me in and encouraging me to stay and explore.

I ignore the uncomfortable feeling and consider the fun I can have when we reach there.
