Dylan carried Luca on his shoulder as he walked to Professor Myrtles' lab. In the town, there was the usual sight of tourists haggling with the hard-working artisans and cooks for lower prices on their products. He sighed since the merchants were plagued by visitors from other regions that treated the people like a discount bargain dying to happen. It was a difficult sight to see since some sellers usually did it as a side job, but they hated how no matter what they said, the customers were jaded by the effort and time it took to make the souvenirs for sale. An example was necklaces made with leather, twine, or fabric with an active evolution stone as the centerpiece. The stones alone cost a pretty penny, but the care and love put into each piece of jewelry made a rare mineral shine brighter than before.
The same could be said about the food. It wasn't just some cup of instant ramen sold at the nearest Munchies Lax mart that could be cooked in the same building. No, the delicacies made by the hard-working chefs made each bite worth it. The meals tasted like they were made by the customer's grandmother, delicious, and made with love. Overall, the culture and natives of this region made it what it is, the beautiful Bell region.
Before Dylan left for the lab, something caught his eye outside the nearby snack shop. It was a sale on sour cream and onion chips. He noticed Luca looked at the snacks too, specifically the chocolate bars. The two went inside, and as Dylan grabbed the chips and candy, there was an announcement about a new sighting of a strange mystery pokemon near the Azure Forest. He wondered what it could be, but for now, there were snacks to purchase. He paid for the snacks and two cans of cold lemonade as they went back on track.
As they walked through the town, Dylan greeted all the shop owners, who were opening up their stores at the time, that he passed by in the street. A few noticed his bag and knew that meant he got the job, a relief for them since they spent hours listening to him prattle on about his burning desire to explore the region, find his calling, and make it big. But now they wouldn't see him for a while, a loss of a familiar face but the peace of not hearing him talk about the job every weekend. "Hey Dylan, good for you on getting the job!" Said, Mr. Morales who waved at him. Dylan waved back, saying, "Thank you for the support, Mr. Morales!"
As he walked, it felt like he was leaving for good. He spent most of his life here and did his best to be an outstanding member of the community. Dylan felt his heart grow heavy, but he knew it was not the time to feel guilty or homesick before he even left his hometown. It was time for him to grow a pair of chesto berries and keep going forward. He had faith, hope, and a little buddy named Luca.
Luca could sense his friends' stress. It was not something he liked, but he knew a good old pat attack to Dylan's face with his paws always made him cheer up. With swiftness like a Bunnleby, Luca patted the sadness out of Dylan as he laughed at the cute attack. "Hahaha! Okay, Luca, okay! I'm sorry for being a downer. I won't turn tail a run from this golden opportunity," Dylan said as Luca smiled confidently from his Paw Attack and grabbed his chocolate bar and peeled away the pesky wrapped to obtain the delicious sweet treat inside. Dylan smiled as he opened the top of his bag of chips and snacked on the way as they walked to the lab. "You know, I will miss these snacks. But I bet the other towns have tastier treats, too." He said with a smile as Luca was busy gobbling up his candy bar and made a happy face of a satisfied Pokemon. As soon as Luca finished his treat, his body was full of energy as he hopped off Dylan and ran circles around him in a frenzied state.
Dylan laughed and had an idea. "Hey, the first one to the lab is king and the last one is a rotten egg!" Dylan said as he ran ahead of Luca. The blue pups' eyes widened as he smirked and chased after his friend with a loud howl. As the two races for the professor's lab, there was nothing to stop them. They hopped over fences, crates, and other Pokemon in the hopes of not being the rotten egg. They laughed and ran faster, even though Dylan was heavier than Luca. He made up for this disadvantage with pure spirit in the hopes of getting there first.
